I was only half listening, but it sounded like one of the contestants said, "Can I call you Al?" to Richard Karn as he was shaking contestant hands...but couldn't really make it out.  Karn didn't seem to insulted by it, heh.

 I guess she remembers him as Al from Home Improvment, Tim's assistant on Tool Time.  I sure remember him as Al.
