Indeed so. And say what you will about the cheapness of The $50,000 Pyramid--at least the winner of that tournament was guaranteed the $50K. This recent Pyramid tourney reminds of the big championship on Trump Card. "Oh, well, we didn't give the $100,000 away. At least The Donald won't end up in the poor house".

I agree that $3-4K doesn't seem much by today's standards, but when you look at the Barry-Enright shows from that period, quite often a champ would run up several consecutive wins and walk away with $30,000 or more - quite nice for the early '80s.
