This one I can see them doing. Jeff Goldblum completely phasing Vincent D'Onofrio out might bring fresh eyes to the show.
Heck, they can put the flagship show on one night, SVU another, their new LA edition on a third, CI on a 4th and that leaves a 5th for the redo of The Rockford Files the network is considering.

Precisely. Hopefully, NBC is aware of this.

Well, I somewhat (but respectfully) disagree. He's no laugh riot, but he makes me chuckle. Good enough for me.

Different tastes, I suppose.

I actually stayed up for this last night. Truth be told, I never knew what Fallon looked like, let alone, ever watched him. He looks like a young Gene Rayburn imho(from the one '62 episode of MG that does exist). He can improve, but I thought he was a heck of a lot better than Conan. Fallon isn't ready for the tonight snow seat, yet, but he'll be there one day

Well, I did indeed give Ferguson a try tonight...

I absolutely LOVED it. Had me in stitches throughout almost the entire show.

I'll need to watch a couple more to be sure, but I think you may have a convert here.

Thanks! :)

FWIW, during last night's monologue, Conan had played a (cheesy) Deal or No Deal-type game with Howie Mandel.  Even Howie got into the peacock bashing when mentioning why the 6 models were not the real ones from his DoND show(s).  He said bluntly that they were all FIRED...But they'll be on later tonight.

As I have said to some of the younger generation:  Compare Letterman 2010 to Letterman 1980 (daytime) or Letterman 1983 (Late Night) and you'll see that Dave has lost a lot of his creativity & spontaneity.  He is now down to recycling older bits and is now just "phoning it in" (IMHO, half a monologue of "It was soooo ________ in NYC today" jokes is lame).   If you look at Conan's shtick, he started out doing pretty much the same things that Uncle Dave did in his early years and is still doing it.  Granted, Conan hasn't clicked with as many viewers as quickly as maybe Dave, Jay, or even Craig Ferguson, but he is still trying to be different and unpredictable.

One of the reasons why I can't stand Jay anymore is because most of the time I couldn't tell if he was delivering the monologue to the viewers, or if he was just talking to Kevin Eubanks -- The Human McKenzie laugh track machine.

/Anybody remember Letterman's first Late Night Show, when throughout the program they were showing different types of welding???

Oh, goodness, yes. Right on target, Tim.

By the by, if any of you caught Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, were you cracking up as I was every time Jimmy (wearing a Leno wig and chin and sounding like Leno) said during his monologue, "Did you hear about this?" when going to a topical joke. My sides were literally aching.

Normally I'm not up at that time, so I recorded Ferguson last night.  That was brilliance.

And Tim nailed it about Leno - every night there's a punch about a Philly sports team (Phillies/Eagles/etc.).
/He's got fifteen jokes a night it seems
//Five "new", five of yesterday, five of "LOL gotta make the audience laugh".
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Considering all of this nonsense is primarily NBC's handiwork, I highly doubt it.
I don't know what the big deal is for NBC to plug programming here. Law and Order repeats, or new episodes. Bring L&O: CI back to NBC. Bam, done, good ratings, happy affiliates.

I don't really see the lack of Leno at 10pm causing some big problem with NBC and finding additional programming. They have plenty to go around.
All Comcast has to do is pull some homemade shows from some of their cable coverage areas and call it "The Best Of Comcast Local Access Channel".
Hey, some of those amateurish shows could probably do better in ratings than some of the shows already on NBC.

Forgot about the guitar earlier...It's an important special effect.

Yes. In my town, Bowling For Dollars was canceled to make room for it.

Is he still saying "Not a match, the board goes back" every time he says something stupid (ie, twelve times an episode)?  Haven't watched in a few years.

No. I'm only a semi-regular watcher of his show, and I actually haven't heard him do a game show reference in a while. (I say semi-regular because it seems lately, two weeks out of three are repeats.)

And if anybody is looking for a near-mint condition talk show set, looks like Conan & Company have a deal for you...

/Guess it's too small to fit Jay's current ego trip now that he whined his way back into The Tonight Show.
