Have the two shows been in syndication long enough for one to have been #1 for 17 years and the other for 19?  (Specifically, was there an older syndie Jeopardy! in the Fleming era?)  Or were they tied for several years?
WOF has been #1 in the syndie ratings since 1984(I think February), J! has been #2 since sometime in 1986.

There was a weekly syndie nighttime Fleming J! in 1974-75, complete with a bonus round at end of show(pick a square on the board and win a prize of up to $25K in Cash), more lights on the set, and Fleming in a tux. We aren't sure whether GSN has any episodes of this.

I don't understand why.
Doesn't it have something to do with not wanting his kids to see his face plastered all over merchandise? I can't remember exactly.

"Jeopardy!" is the number one quiz show--"Wheel" is a game show, not a quiz show. Or that's one possible rationale. (Those p.r. guys can't outsmart us ad guys.)
And of course, the new registered trademark slogan for "J!"--"America's Favorite Quiz Show ®".

zachhoran:
With the new Video Game block on GAME SHOW Network, will one of the shows have a review of the new J! and WOF games?

CoreyArcher:
I'm not sure if this is a bad sign, but the J! and Wheel games originally had release dates way earlier this year. Then suddenly the dates got pushed back to the fall. In Wheel's case, it could have been to capitalize on the anniversary buzz.

Anybody played J! yet?
