Wasn't it a similar situation in Philadelphia as well--in that KYW didn't bother airing CS in first run but grabbed the package of reruns? I remember taking a trip to Atlantic City in 1984 and watching a 1979 CS episode (too young to enter the casino ;) -- but at least I wasn't too young to sit in the audience to see Don Rickles later that night).
As far as I recall, KYW for the most part never or rarely aired $otC either (and considering Jim Perry was a Philadelphia-area native, that had to be a slight slap in the you-know-where). Perhaps I'm mistaken, though.

I didn't know Jim Perry was an American, considering that he hosted a few Canadian game shows in the 1970s and 1980s (especially \"Definition\").

KYW didn't air the latter half of CS's run IIRC. THe reruns aired at 11:30AM from Summer 1982-April 1983(they aired it instead of Hit Man). Then KYW decided to pick up Dream House, and CS reruns moved to 12:30PM from April 1983-September 1984(replacing Search for Tomorrow).
$otC only aired in Philly from Jan-Sep 1985 weekdays at 3PM, and they never aired the syndie version.

According to some various Usenet posts, Jim was born in Camden, NJ (just outside of Philadelphia)--although his family is from Canada (Nova Scotia, to be exact). Supposedly he and I share the same birthday (which is coming up in exactly 31 days [Central time]).
I do recall him making several references during his tenure on CS and even occasionally on $otC of Philadelphia being his \"hometown.\" One thing I didn't know was that he was a weekend/swing shift DJ at 77 WABC in 1973 (and moved on to Canada and DEFINITION from that gig)--I saw this on Allan Sniffen's excellent WABC tribute site (I only wish I had the wherewithall to do for WLS in Chicago what Allan's done for WABC). But I digress.
