CBS would get America "Whammied" for the first time on this day, September 19, 1983, with the unveiling of Press Your Luck!

What's more, Wheel of Fortune made the big jump to syndication on this day as well!

Cordially,

Can this one really be counted, considering some people said they got the show in late-August 1983, some markets debuted it on Sept. 5 or 12, the latter of which is claimed in some TV reference book; can't remember if it's the EOTVGS or another TV book.
"I just wanna give a shoutout to my homies in their late-30s who are watching this on Paramount+ right now, cause they couldn't stay up late enough to watch it live!"

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

Wheel started here in Louisville on August 29, 1983. Me thinks the start date should be whatever the show considers its premiere date, so if Sept. 19 is what they proclaim, Sept. 19 it is.

Love Connection bowed in syndication the same day.

Does anybody have the 1983 "Fall Preview" issue of TV Guide? and does it, talk about those shows on the syndicated page?

"For those who like to play games, there are 'Love Connection', in which the studio audience must guess which of three candidates a man or woman selected as his or her video date; 'The Pop 'n Rocker Game', where contestants try to identify a rock star through his music; and 'Star Search', in which the contestants ARE the performers in big-bucks talent contests."

Here's a bonus blurb for you. WPVI in Philly - Monday, September 12, 1983.

7:30 (6) WHEEL OF FORTUNE-Game
DEBUT: A spin of the wheel provides the element of chance as contestants try to win prizes by solving word puzzles. Hosts: Pat Sajak, Vanna White.

The article on new syndie games in Fall 1983 didn't mention WOF nighttime, but they call Star Search and Love Connection game shows? Wow.

So let's get this straight...you acknowledge that Love Connection isn't a game show, and three posts above you couldn't wait to chime in (using your usual annoying I'm-so-inside-Varietyspeak) about the fact that it also started today?
