(And a side note to Teberle....Chill out. We make fun of "double the points!" becuase it's the only consistent thing Karn does. Every FRIGGIN episode.
We get the joke, don't worry. I think the point that Travis is trying to make is that you can only tell a joke so many times before it gets stale, and the whole "DOUBLE THE POINTS!!!!!!!!!1111!!!" thing reached saturation around here long ago.

I'm all for ridiculing Karn (hell, I'm for ridiculing most anyone, including myself), but there's gotta be a more original well we can go to, isn't there?

If there isn't, it shows how much of a one-trick pony Karn is, at least with the aid of cue cards.

Upon reading all of the (mostly) negative comments towards Karn, I gotta ask :

Do the Fremantle folk read this board (besides formerly-fremantle-mandel, or ForFremanDel if you're into stenography).... and if they do, what do they say about Karn?

I'm curious to know how he got the job, and more importantly, why him and not someone else?

I gotta believe that somebody at Fremantle reads this stuff, and has to give Karn some help on him becoming a 'better' game show emcee. Again, I'm sure he's a nice guy, and makes a good second banana on a sitcom...but sorry, he just isn't cutting it for me.

Sure. I agree. But how many times do we need to say it? I mean, we don't go talking about how Patrick Wayne sucks every day, it's pretty much established fact by now. :)

Regarding the 05-06 season, at no point did Dawson receive a phone call, period.

It got a "green light" because... apparently... there's enough people who watch it and like it.  Plain and simple.

Actually it is never that plain or that simple, the show doesn't even register in the top 20.

I totally AGREE.  Karn is one of the better hosts we have today, excluding our elders such as Sajak, Trebek and Barker.

Karn has proved to me, to be the best feud host I've seen. As I said about others, more power to him. He's doing a great job for Feud, and may he have more years with Feud.

To me, a good host is one who can come up with their own cliches.  Strike first blood is a great example.  Whereas you have Bill Rafferty with Dual Implication, and The Land of Parting Gifts.

Really? You have got to be kidding me. Karn is awful as a host and this version of the show is so unwatchable. Both Dawson and the late Mr. Combs would run circles around him.
Agreed, but Mr. Karn doesn't make the show unwatchable. I tune in whenever I can, and when I do, I enjoy it. To whoever said that he reads cue cards, so what? I don't care. He's a nice guy and that's the first thing I look for in game show hosts.

Was Louie drunk during his last episode?

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'm sure Patrick Wayne was a hell of a nice guy, and he was utterly worthless.

The first thing I look for is proficiency in the job. Karn is a competent ACTOR. He just isn't good in situations where he needs to be extemporaneous.

OK, let's rate this simply. If it were a question on FF:
"Name the best Family Feud host evar."
1. Richard Dawson, first years (45)
2. Ray Combs (30)
3. Richard Dawson, later years (10)
4. Richard Karn (10)
5. Louie Anderson (4)
6. Sammy Davis Jr. (1)

Karn, as had been noted earlier, is at least bearable for a half-hour and seems to at least be happy to be there. Anderson gave me the impression he'd rather be having a root canal.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

Not good enough for "Line of the Day", but damn that was perfect enough to be the "Comeback of the Day" for this discussion. Kudos!

Is it possible that the "I'm gonna double/triple the points!!" exclamation is just a gag and Richard, Burton and the audience know it's not really a big deal cuz it's just points but they're going along with the joke?

I don't think it's a gag.  He really does double/triple the points.  Richard Burton would make a better host, except that he's dead.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.
