[quote name=\'AH3RD\' date=\'Apr 15 2005, 01:23 PM\']I'd give it a 60-minute slot, to allow showings of both the CBS and syndie editions of TJW.

Stop....at a double whammy.  Who would want to watch that much mediocricy for so long?

That would be those of us who actually like The Joker's Wild.

Despite my like for the program, I wouldn't be at all surprised however if TJW obtained ratings as lousy as I've read in the past. I'd bet most people hold your perspective and just don't go for it. But hey, if there were an hour of Joker's Wild somewhere on the schedule, I'd certainly be a happy camper! ^o^

Is your claim that TJW is mediocre a fact, or your opinion?

Hint: this is now the third response from someone who would like to see TJW on GSN again.  (I understand why it isn't, mind you.)

Opinion, of course; unless I could find that ratings proved otherwise.

3 people out of about 250 people that regularly read *and* post on this board.  That'll make a huge upturn in the ratings.

You didn't say that the show's ratings were mediocre, you said the show was mediocre.

Indeed, three people would not make a huge change in the ratings either way.  Of course, no one in this thread has said that they would.  You asked who would want to see it, which is a different question, and you declared it to be "mediocre" which is not fact but your opinion.

I would be the last to say that GSN should add a show to the schedule just because I like it.  But it would be equally ridiculous to say that GSN shouldn't add a show just because I don't like it.  And that's what you're doing.

This raises a good question... we've been told that the ratings for the Barry-Enright shows were awful, and I don't doubt that they were, er, less than stellar (to my disappointment, since TJW is one of my favorites).  How did the shows Jamie has mentioned do, relative to the B-E shows, the last time they were on?  Were these shows picked because they were expected to do particularly well, or is it more because GSN now has easier access to the G-T library?

To go back to what Mark's saying: yes, given a choice between TJW, and just about anything else GSN has put on, I'd pick Joker.  Given a choice between getting up early to watch Joker/Tic Tac Dough and sleeping in, I picked the games of my youth.  So there ARE some people out there who would watch.  Don't generalize and make assumptions.

I bet that most of the top tier stuff: Match Game, Feud, and most of the recent stuff does decently in the ratings.  Or at least, decently for a cable net.  Stuff like Trivia Trap, Blockbusters and Treasure Hunt aren't going to bring down the house, so they're not put in the prime watching times.  Joker would fit nicely in an early morning spot.  Just like it did seven years ago.

Since Liberty came into the picture in 2001, GSN has regularly scheduled something along the lines of, I believe, 8 different Sony classics: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Newlywed Game, Pyramid, Joker's Wild, Hollywood Squares, Ruckus, & The $1.98 Beauty Show.
I'd be willing to bet that your suggestion that the G-T library is more readily accessible is the correct reason. While I don't believe that there is any major obstacle preventing GSN from leasing any Sony classic not currently on hand, why go through the trouble of leasing Sony classics when you have every episode of every series of the G-T library at your disposal?

What I don't get is :

Since GSN is apparently loving this "casino night" crap, Why doesn't GSN continue going after the "Casino" theme with "Casino" based games....imagine the marketing strategy with Jokers Wild, High Rollers, and Gambit on once a week... hell, someone find "Dealers Choice" and put that back on!

Just mah two cents.

Why do you say that, because nobody on this board talks about it?

I watch it.  I must be a nobody.

I agree for the mostpart. Hey, I didn't like the "Game Show Network" being transformed as the network for games, but having a casino day instead of only a casino night would fit their new image quite nicely. Have original programing in prime time and card/gambling-based classics during the afternoon and late night. I agree with all the gameshows described in the above quote including the these (some are already in the daily or weekend run but would fit the criteria):

-Card Sharks
-Celebrity Sweepstakes (if NBC did to what they did to Hollywood Squares)

Well I do. I'm sure many do. Although it's not technically a game show, it's still tons better than American Dream Derby. They should redo Celebrity Sweepstakes with the money that they could've saved from American Dream Derby.
Don't think too hard... you might give yourself a headache.
