Back on topic, I did not recognize Chris Wylde last night, as I have never seen Taboo.  Does this make me one of the smarter posters on this forum? :-)

I believe another thing he did was being a delivery guy on the DiGiorno (sp?) pizza commercials....

[quote name=\'Matt Ottinger\' date=\'Feb 3 2005, 11:52 AM\']You are wrong.  Our Mike Burger is THIS Mike Burger.  Game show fans ought to recognize two or three other names on that page as well.  You'll also notice the page is a little out of date.

You do, however, earn bonus points for having no idea who Chris Wylde is.

Of course, I love to confuse the matter.

Since I have never watched any of Wylde's previous ventures, nor did I have any inkling that it was him on Idol, don't I get a share of the bonus points too?:)

If the IMDB entry isn't proof enough that the rapper was indeed Chris Wylde, this article on MSNBC.com is.  It goes on to say how ridiculous the early auditions have become.  We all know we're being shown more and more bad and absurd (and both) auditions this year than in seasons past.  Furthermore, at the AI newsgroup, there are theories that the producers planted a few people in front of the judges for TV purposes (conflict + humiliation = ratings).  Among them: a 44-year-old man who claimed to be 28 but looks more like Paul McCartney IMHO, a pair of twins who ranted at the cameras that they were forced to sing together (both tried again at separate cities, and only one passed), and a girl who actually was a decent singer but was turned down because of her cow costume.  I could go on, but I won't.  I'm just saying it wouldn't be a surprise if Chris was one of those "plants".

Jason: I have to tend to agree with you - there was a guy at the St. John's, Newfoundland tryout for Canadian Idol last year when I was taking a shot - he seemed to be playing around with yoyos or something and it seemed that he was there for another reason.  It turned out that indeed he got to the celeb judges and then they yelled at him b/c they knew he was faking it.

Now for the others...

Ryan :)

You forgot the mime.  Yes, a mime on a singing competition.

And it doesn't help when wacky morning teams are sending their interns so that they can blurt out a "Q104 plays much more music!"  or "X106 rocks, 'Idol' sucks!" in front of the judges, which will probably be edited out.

I'm trying to, Mark. :-)  Well, there's two things we've learned about mimes in the last 12 months: they make lousy singers and they make lousy dodgeball players.

Have to agree with Simon -- she's probably better than most of the people who actually tried out.  This train wreck is 100 times worse than the two previous seasons.

Wasn't Chris also on Trading Spaces? Or some other TLC show along that line; there are so many spinoffs.

The first time I saw Chris Wylde was on Comedy Central's Strip Mall.  If I remember correctly, he and one of his friends were making porn in a studio with a photo developing shop as a front (among other plots).  I was truly and utterly shocked this show didn't see a second season.

This page depicts Chris Wylde's appearance on the March 16, 2002 episode of "Trading Spaces".

I sometimes lie awake wondering who the most annoying celebrity homeowner was - him or Andy Dick.

I saw parts of Andy Dick's ep.  The guy's just as crazy in real life as his characters on Newsradio and Less then Perfect.

ObGS: Let's say you're casting a new game show.  The only two candidates for host willing to work for the money you're offering (which is not much) are Andy Dick and Patrick Wayne.  Who's hired?

I think you can assume that a "performance artist" type comic like Andy Dick is going to be every bit as "on" for the camera on a show like Trading Spaces as he would be for anything else.  Therefore, I doubt the Trading Spaces episode gave you any insight at all into his "real life".
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

I'll lower the prize budget. I'll host it myself. I'll quit television entirely.

Are any of those acceptable, judges?
