She makes the game run faster, since she can look up questionable words quickly, and determine whether or not they are real words. It took longer to do this before she got here.
Bull. B-U-L-L..............L.

If that's really the case, then how did they make it thru 2 seasons without an on-camera judge? If it's really a case of timing, they easily edit out any situations where a word needs to be looked up, and honestly, I'd think having her on set to find a word would just take up more time.

Stacey fulfills her purpose as eye candy, and that's it. Other than that, I find her just a bit annoying, mainly because I think she's unnecessary, nothing personal to her.

You honestly think she's sitting there typing five-letter words into M-W.com to see if they're legit? You REALLY think that? Are you THAT dense?
She does type words in to a computer, and there are pics to prove it. Take a look at these:

 Oh, Adam.....

1. Don't believe everything you see on TV.

2. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I assure you, and many others will, that she is not the judge and jury of Lingo because she 'types' a 5 letter word into an on stage 'computer'.

Sorry to burst your Stacey 'bubble'. (boy, there's a few jokes in there!)

I don't see how you can say that what I stated before is false. It's right there in black and white.

When Bob Eubanks talked about the "golden doors" on Dream House, do you really believe that those doors were made of solid gold?

When "Range Game" is played on The Price is Right, do you really believe that it can take two days (or whatever Bob Barker's saying it takes these days) to restart the game once the contestant stops it?

When "Safe Crackers" is played on The Price is Right, do you really believe that the show has no way of opening the "safe" if the contestant doesn't pick the right combination?

Adam, you've been warned before not to believe everything you see and hear; Lingo is just the latest case.  But since that doesn't seem to be getting across, I'll ask again: how do you think the show handled the task of looking up questionable words before Stacey was there?

A person from the GSN boards asked Stacey herself about this through an email, and this is the response they got:

No one is questioning that she is, in fact, typing words into a computer.  We are questioning your statement that this, in fact, makes her the judge.  It does not; it makes her eye candy.  The eye candy in question just happens to be relaying the decision of the real judge -- who is offstage, doing the same job he/she did (and just as quickly) before Stacey came along.

I see your point. However, I intend to prove that she makes the game run faster. Here's how. I have some episodes of Lingo both with and without Stacey. I am gonna take two shows, one with and one without, and see how many words are played in the main game of both. I will post my findings, after I am done.

Sorry to burst your bubble there, Matt...but I speak from personal knowledge (i.e., being one myself)... weatherdudes don't fit the 'hot piece of ass' criterion.

The pictures in question come from a very reputable GSN poster.  And, unlike you, I believe him.

Okay I have checked my tape, and here is what I found. Surprisingly to me, in both shows, the same amount of words were played in the main game, 9 each. However, in the episode with Stacey, they were able to play 5 words, while the one without managed 4.  So take this info as you will. I will admit though, that although the one with Stacey did play an extra word in round 1, Stacey's presense didn't really make the show run that much faster then I thought she would. I guess I stand corrected.

Having done market research as my vocation, one word of advice--two shows isn't a significant enough sample to be able to prove your point (granted, that's 14 words, but you get the idea).  If you really want to do this right, you should probably do no less than five shows of each (to account for really smart contestants which get words right away, thereby allowing more words to be played, or the opposite as well).  That at least will give you a better sample base to work from.  It's still not going to be perfect, but it'll be a great way to kill a Sunday afternoon.  :)

Good.  And I'm sure you'll find that if you take multiple shows with and without Stacey, and average them out, you'll find that there really isn't a difference over time.

She was never there to make the game run faster.  They say that because GSN isn't going to announce Stacey as "our hot piece of ass."  Unless it's Lemon doing the announcing, mind you. :-D
