$100,000 Pyramid Question
« on: April 19, 2004, 11:34:37 AM »
If a champion had become the champ before the tournament and got in, but did not win the $100,000, would he/she come back the next day if the $100K was won?

That, I believe, is correct--whoever was the current champion returned the first day after the tournament to defend their championship, even if they were in the tournament.

Absolutely. And, as well, they were as eligible as anyone else to make it into the next tournament. I remember someone qualifying in such a way (I can't remember her name, she was a hottie with short slicked hair and a bright blue outfit), but her time didn't come close to holding up over the tournament period.

Georgeanne Wright is I believe the lady in question, whose early 19787 tourney appearance and championship regin finished airing last Friday on the 11AM weekday $100K airing.

Yep Georgeanne Wright was one but there is also another one that Chris is talking about.  I wish that I could remember her name too....

Was Georgeanne Wright the lady that was wearing the blue dress and had... very long hair in the back?

Cheers,

Ryan :)

You are exactly right!  She sort of had big eyes that sort of protrude a little.

That would be Heather Davis, who was in the tournament prior to Georgeann Wright's tournament, and whose time held up until the final qualifying day, when Georgeann beat it twice.

Hmm. I don't remember it being all that strong of a time, tho, do you happen to remember offhand what it was?

Now what would happen if the just-qualified reigning champ also won the $100,000 ? Would s/he still return to play again ?

Nah... Bob Stewart would kick them out the door after they won the $100K.

 38 seconds, IIRC.

If memory serves, the first time Georgeann went to the top of the Pyramid, it only made her the third fastest, which meant she wouldn't have played until Tuesday.  The second time, she moved up to second place.

And as for women in blue dresses, you may want to watch/tape Traci Trensch tomorrow on the 6PM ET airing.  :-p

All I can add is that what has been said applies only to the Clark version.  I seem to recall John Davidson telling a contestant in the same position that she would not qualify for the next tournament.  If I were the producer, I'd take a middle ground.  I'd only disqualify someone if they won the first tournament, and even then I'd let said player continue in regulation play after it was over.

Traci always scared me. Those shoulderpads gave her bigger shoulders than I have. :)
