Johnny O announcing Cullen's TPIR on Buzzr
« on: June 04, 2022, 11:53:56 AM »
The third show airing on June 4 had Johhny O filling in for Don Pardo, who had laryngitis. So Johnny had a connection to the original TPIR. I believe this is circa 1961.

Can 100% confirm that's the date. NBC made a note of the announcer substitution in their program files.

Much appreciated to hear that! Since noticing they've run the same episode with two different dates in the past (one with Arlene Francis; they've called it both 1/18/61 and 2/1/61 on different occasions), it's made me call their other Cullen TPIR listings into question as well, at times. Thank you!

I went over to my copy of the EoTVGS (3rd edition) and there was no mention of Johnny Olson among the original PiR sub-announcers.

And we all thought Johnny has only been connected with PiR from 1972-85. Looks like another GS myth has been blown out of the water.

Cordially,
