WOF shopping question

I once saw a WOF ep where the speed up was played for a gift certificate, and someone won  a ton of money and Pat said  that the constant could put the money on a gift certificate or select one of the five grand prizes. I wonder if that ever happened too often or not?

That happened once in a while if the round finished up quick with a big payday. Often Pat would ask if they wanted the gift certificate or the largest prize they could afford, like a trip or car.
