Buzzr season jumps, May 2020
« on: May 05, 2020, 09:54:55 AM »
On May 1, the 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM airings of Match Game moved to 1978 (from 1977), four weeks after Dawson's departure.

On May 4, the 9:30 AM airing of Supermarket Sweep moved to 1994 episodes (from 2000). These appear to be from early in the season, as David is emphasizing the then-new $250 Super Bonus. The production numbers from Buzzr's schedule do jump around a little bit (This week, for example, is 1394, 1403, 1396, 1401, and 1398).

I think you meant 1993 for Supermarket Sweep with the episode #s you given. The production codes during the 1993-produced Season 5 episodes that are most notable are:
#1398: The readouts become blue and the $250 Super Bonus premieres.
#1451-#1455: The first set of Season 5 Sweep of Champions and the premiere of the $100 Soda Can Recycle bonus.
#1456: The Big Money Makers tagline premieres and the Brach's Candy Bags were replaced with the candy bags with the SS cart emblem on it.

They won't be in 1988 for long though. They're just running a handful of episodes that aired in a couple of previous marathons.

That's frustrating for Split Second - I had missed #90 and #91 from DVR errors both times they have aired so far.  Why stop at #89 and rewind to #1?

I did mean 1993 Sweep, yes.

Also adding that they advanced to 1988 on the 9:00 AM SOTC as of Monday (5/4).

This tells me one of two things, either...

1. Body Language tanked in the Sunday night slot, or
2. Concentration '76 did better than expected.

Either way, good switch.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were both, but this is coming from one where Body Language is his second least favored G-T production from 1970-onward, only ahead of Mindreaders. My thought would be "Concentration's doing really well, so let's give Jack more exposure on the weekend with a show we've already got converted and can stretch a bit."

It also doesn't help that they only converted about 20 episodes of Body Language this time around and ran almost half of those in a recent marathon (meaning they've already started repeating.)

Though they could've gone back into the 2015-2017 package (which would all be brand-new to people who, like me, were unable to access the network prior to the online stream's launch in June 2018).

Does Buzzr really have access to ratings data for a random 10 PM slot on the weekend, or a 4 AM slot? I wonder if some of this speculation is just overthinking things a bit, and given the nicheness (is that a word) of the network, some decisions are just made based on casual feedback or on a whim to mix things up.

I would think, if anything, they can track viewership via Stirr and Pluto as well as their own website -- I don't think they have to pay/subscribe to any kind of ratings service (like Nielsen) for them.
