Who owns the Twenty-One format?

(1/1)

jlgarfield:
Hi, guys. I've been thinking about the 1994 movie Quiz Show (which I haven't thought of in YEARS! It's a gripping movie, BTW), and the game show Twenty-One.

My next Q is: Who is the current rights-holder of the Twenty-One format?

nowhammies10:
The 2000 revival was produced under the NBC Studios banner, but being that it's a Barry-Enright show I would guess Sony are the ultimate rights-holders now?

snowpeck:
Pretty sure it's NBC/Universal/Comcast/Whatever they are now.

Barry & Enright sold their shows to NBC at the time of the scandals. But...I assume Tic Tac Dough was one they sold. Did they simply buy it back? Is there a story to it?

jlgarfield:
I asked Randy West not too long ago this Q. Per him, NBCUniversal (and its predecessor organizations) still owns the format. They bought it from Barry-Enright upon the outbreak of the quiz show scandals.
