"25 Words or Less" a go for Fall 2019
« on: November 26, 2018, 02:41:28 PM »
There will be at least one new game show on the syndication airwaves in Fall 2019.

"25 Words or Less", the Meredith Vieira-hosted word game that got a brief tryout over the summer, has been picked up for a full season by Fox.

It's a fun game that's perfect background fodder, and it's always nice to have another celebrity word game on the air.

Curious to see what happens for the actual season, the pilots were a little low-budget and lacking - but the game doesn't need much to work.

I was actually wondering about this show the other day. The one episode I saw was a lot of fun, so this is great news IMO.

This might be one of the best eras for this genre in about 30 years. I don't think it was this busy, even in the Regis Millionaire days.

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

Daytime game show needs to come back..THEN I'll be happy

So, Family Feud (in double runs) LMAD, Price and Now 25 Words aren't enough?

And, on a related note, part-time TPIR Live host and former host of "Baggage" Jerry Springer has been green-lit to host a show in the Fall of 2019 called "Judge Jerry".

Although Meridith's show sounds more promising...

And technically, this show should be called "25 Words or Fewer."

But I don't want to give Mr. Holland a headache due to "argu[ing] the finer points of grammar."  ;)

I know Millionaire has become visual trash and I know that with Funny You Should Ask that Byron Allen is gonna Byron Allen but are both chopped liver?

/ Bold Prediction: GMA Day bombs and we get the daily Pyramid we deserve, perhaps with something else in tow.

My hope is that this is the nudge to get the board game back in production.

I mean, seven game shows between network and syndication, with at least one more coming down the pike is pretty good. Then you have at least a dozen in prime time and on cable. The genre is at its highest level in about 25-30 years. Let’s not be ungrateful.

Recent ratings showed GMA Day with 1.7 million viewers, half a million less than The Chew

Pyramid got 5 million viewers on ABC primetime last summer, and with probably lower production costs per episode than GMA Day.

You would think ABC can replace GMA Day with a daytime Pyramid right now if it wanted to, but will other matters come into play, like demographics?

Or that ABC owns Good Morning America and this allows them to extend the brand, as opposed to the Sony-owned Pyramid.

(Note: if ABC wants to have Ginger Zee do the weather for an hour, I'd watch.)
