"Chain Letter" with Jan Murray
« on: November 24, 2018, 07:24:47 PM »
I recently looked up the 1966 GS Chain Letter which was hosted by Jan Murray and discovered that in addition to an unaired 1964 pilot, only the debut show exists--in color!  Has this ever made the collector's rounds, is it locked in the NBC vaults, or is it located in the same West Coast Broadcast Museum where one can find the 1969 MG show in color?  I'd love to see that first Chain Letter program, not just because I don't quite recall the game play of the bonus round, but because I'd love to see that top-of-screen board used in the bonus round.  This was one of the first-ever NBC GS's I ever saw in color on our first color TV, and the multicolored board wowed me at age 11.

The 1966 premiere with Ruta Lee & Dick Patterson is in some collections, in fact the closing credits of that show are here and the episode's not in a color:

I know UCLA has it listed as being in color in their catalog, so maybe the color version exists?
