2017-2018 fall schedule thread
« on: August 16, 2017, 08:58:27 AM »
Starting the annual thread with news out of Atlanta, where it appears that, for the time being, WWTBAM will not be broadcast in the market.

WPCH (Peachtree TV), an independent station now owned by Meredith (it previously ran the station under Time Warner ownership, and was the former WTBS/17) released its fall schedule this week, and the hour of WWTBAM is gone from 3-4p, replaced by "King of Queens" reruns. At this time, no other Atlanta station appears to have picked up the show. (Several Cox stations run the show, so I could see WSB picking it up for an overnight airing).

WPCH does pick up Byron Allen's "Funny You Should Ask", which will air in an odd time slot, 10:30pm ET, sandwiched between "Inside Edition" and "Seinfeld".

Everything else appears to be the same from this past season.

WOF -- 7pm ET on WXIA (NB, Tegna)
J! -- 7:30pm ET on WXIA

LMAD -- 10am ET on WGCL (CBS, Meredith)
TPiR -- 11am ET on WGCL

FF -- 6pm ET on WUPA (CW, Tribune) for two-hour block

I'm curious to see how many markets are picking up Funny You Should Ask as a replacement for The Insider. Not happening in New York, where WLNY will be carrying the show (suddenly curious where they plan on plugging it, because their lineup from 4:00 PM onward is pretty much set in stone). EDIT: Double run, 4 PM.

(For the record, The Insider's replacement in New York is going to be Inside Edition, which returns to WCBS after quite a long absence from the station.)

In Atlanta, Meredith's WGCL (CBS affiliate) aired "The Insider" and "Inside Edition" back-to-back in the 7p hour.

Starting this fall, "Inside Edition" will air on Meredith's Peachtree TV (WPCH, independent) at 8am and 10pm. "Funny You Should Ask" will air after the 10pm edition of "Inside Edition".

As for that 7pm hour, WGCL will air two episodes of "Big Bang Theory", which previously aired that same hour on Peachtree TV, which will air reruns of BET's "The Game" in that slot this fall.

Cleveland:

LMaD, TPiR, WoF, and J! all stay at their same first run times--10 AM, 11 AM, 7 PM, and 7:30 PM, all on WOIO.

Gone is the Jeopardy! daytime rerun.  The weekend runs of WoF and J! stay, airing after the 11 PM or later news on Saturdays, moving to 7-8 PM on Saturdays when college sports aren't in primetime.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire? goes from WOIO to WKYC, getting a double run from 2 to 3 PM for just that week, starting on Tuesday 9/5.  Its regular time is a single episode at 3 PM.

Funny You Should Ask gets the very interesting time slot of 10:30 PM on WBNX, replacing a Friends rerun.

Family Feud used to have the 2 PM time slot on WKYC, as well as 2:30 PM for part of the last season.  Now, Feud is on WOIO from 3 to 4 PM, as well as from 6 to 7 PM on sister station WUAB.  This is at least the third time in Feud's almost 2 decade run that WOIO has aired it, as well as the second time for WUAB--they aired Feud as part of a 90 min. early afternoon block in 2001-02 with TTTT and Card Sharks.

Whatever is left of Celebrity Name Game withers away at 3:30 AM on WUAB for the next few weeks.

My DVR listings for two weeks from now.  Funny You Should Ask info from an ad I saw during a fit of insomnia last week.

What might be the biggest scheduling change in the history of game shows, WSBT-South Bend is switching Wheel/Jeopardy to Jeopardy/Wheel in the 7PM hour on the new season.  I believe they also will be switching from a Saturday Jeopardy to a Saturday Wheel.

Just mine (what?).

I guess I don't understand the move.  It's been Wheel/J! I think since they debuted back in the 80s.  Only exception was when Indiana was on no-DST, where Wheel was at 6:30 and J! at either 10:30 or 3:30 (TPIR lead in or paired with Hollywood Squares).  Maybe it's a Sinclair thing...they got sold to them last fall.

Feud/Millionaire I don't think are moving.  Feud is already at 3PM/7PM on WBND and Millionaire is on sometime.

Nope. KOMO in Seattle is Sinclair, and orders it WOF->Jeopardy.

/they also do their best to bury those "must-runs" in the 4:00a hour

I usually check TV Guide's online listings, but you can only go about 13 days ahead. Check Tuesday for the first set of listings...I think Funny You Should Ask premieres on the 11th.

Got to check two weeks ahead on Xfinity's listings and there's only one notable change.

WMAR ABC 2
7:30pm - Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?

WUTB 41 (MyNetwork)
10:00am - Celebrity Name Game

WBFF FOX 45
6:00pm - Family Feud
6:30pm - Family Feud
7:00pm - Jeopardy!
7:30pm - Wheel of Fortune

WJZ 13 (CBS)
10:00am - Let's Make A Deal
11:00am - The Price is Right

With "The Insider" canceled, ABC 2 has decided to bring back its noon newscast (or what I assume is its noon newscast), move "RightThisMinute" to 12:30 where Millionaire was and place Millionaire where The Insider was at 7:30pm. I wish it the best of luck as it gets slaughtered up against Wheel and hope it remains on in Baltimore in 2018.

I'm not surprised at CNG reruns on a MyNetwork affiliate, but I'd rather have a double run of Millionaire in that case. Aw.
Me: Of all of the game shows you've hosted besides Jeopardy!, like High Rollers or Classic Concentration, which is your favorite?
Alex Trebek: I'd have to say To Tell The Truth, because it was the first time in my career that I got to sit down while I was hosting.

TitanTV allowed me to go to the 11th...everything mostly stays the same with a few changes.

WTKR
LMAD, 9 am
TPiR, 11 am

Those two are separated by a local talk show at 10 am. It's kinda odd to me that they don't air LMAD and TPiR back-to-back.

WVEC
Wheel and J! continue to hold down the 7-8 pm hour, for the 34th year in a row. However, J! now has a previous season rerun at 3:30 pm. J! and a new show, Daily Blast Live, replace T.D. Jakes.

WTVZ
Feud, 10 am, 7-8 pm. I'm guessing the 10 am episode is a rerun...I believe Feud reruns also air on weekends
Funny You Should Ask, 10:30 am
Snap Decision's summer run aired at 5:30 pm, partially displacing Harry Connick, Jr.'s show. Looks like that was only temporary; Harry moves back to 5.

WVBT
Millionaire, 12-1 pm

Indy:

CHANGES:
Millionaire - from a single on ABC-6 at 12:30 pm to a double on CBS-4 at 9 & 9:30 am (replacing Celeb Name Game)
Funny You Should Ask - 6 & 6:30 pm on My-23, replacing 2nd run of Steve Harvey  (Steve's first run stays at 3 on CW-8)
(Funny also airs on Sunday nights at the same time)
Celeb Name Game - 2 am on FOX-59 (possibly just the week of the 11th to run out the sister station's contract?)

UNCHANGED:
Deal & Price - 10 and 11, CBS-4
Feud - 4 & 4:30 on CW-8, 7 & 7:30 on My-23
Wheel & J! - 7 & 7:30, NBC-13
