I'll watch the first show just to see how Snoop makes his entrance. I wonder if it will be through a cloud of smoke.

From his dressing room? Definitely!!!

I just saw an ad on TBS for this and Method Man's new show, both "coming to TBS."  Knowing how TBS has advertised their shows in the past like "Angie Tribeca" and "Search Party", they may be advertising both shows in August for a January 2018 premiere.  No, nothing from the show was shown, just Snoop and Method Man being served by a cocktail waitress.

Looks like they got some category inspiration from our thread???

That being said, I love the detail they put into the wheel, giving a generous nod to the original.

/If they went the Kline & Friends way, instead of "flashing light" eyes, would there have been a picture of Snoop above the wheels with smoke coming out of his mouth?
//Or will that idea be used for Snoop's reboot of Hot Potato???

Love the category designs on the wheels, as well as the Snoop "Joker" caricature. Might have to re-subscribe to Sling just so I can catch this.

/Having each slide say THE-JOKER'S-WILD is a nice touch

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

That looks like there are actual moving parts to the slot machine, as opposed to a graphic representation of spinning wheels. Props on the props, there. Based on the executive team in charge, who opted for a mechanical Pyramid, that's not a surprise.

I like the Joker spaces, too, with the Snoop caricature. I have to admit, for decades I never understood the joker graphic on classic version. I thought it was some sort of a weird abstract creature walking to the right. Only a couple of years ago did I actually see it was a human jester doing a handstand. I am amazed how long it eluded me, although to my defense, antenna reception was always dicey in that era.

Categories seem to be right down the line with what we expected, although it seems they aren't doing a straight Q&A or a [huge sigh] game of definitions.

I wasn't the only one then, although it only took me until the late 70's to figure that one out. ;-)

To me, it looks like the upper and lower panels are some kind of convex TV monitor (with the center panels being ordinary flat monitors). If they can make a concave television, I don't see why they couldn't also make a convex one, especially with Sony having a hand in this. There seems to be a similar technology involved on the "walls" on either side of the wheels.

Still, that's not to take anything away from the way the slot machine is presented. It looks appropriately impressive.

Really, the only thing that bothers me is the word "MOV." Did they just run out of room on the graphic, or is that an acceptable slangy way of spelling "move" ("movie"?) that I'm unaware of?

I'm sure that's supposed to be "Snoop Groove or Porn Mov(ie)," i.e. "is this title from Snoop's oeuvre, or is it the title of an adult film?" Maybe they were worried about "porn move" being something else?

My initial guess is that they would play a snippet of a song and the player would have to guess if it was from one of Snoop's songs (i.e. a "Snoop groove") or an adult film, but your idea makes more sense.

Man, the set looks incredibly well done.

Not crazy about the Joker slide. It's just a drawing, almost a carnival caricature, not an icon. That and I'd prefer Snoop as the devil. The original joker was a bit different, but that's what makes it unique to the show. The graphic design on Joker, TPIR and Gambit (despite it's dull set) was really great.

Can't go with you there. Snoop is the host. Whatever one might think of his "dietary supplementation," he's there to help the player win, not lose.

(Also, I wasn't much of a fan of the original Gambit design. Maybe that's just because I never saw a full-set shot.)

Jack Barry was the host, too, and the devil looked like him. That's more why I was thinking that.

And yes, the Gambit set was outdated even in 1972, but the playing cards, Gambit Board cards and the logo typeface looked great.

We might have a debut date for the new Joker's Wild.  According to this page, Drop the Mic, which has been paired up with The Joker's Wild in ads on TBS, debuts at 10 PM on Thursday, October 26.  I'm thinking The Joker's Wild will take the 10:30 PM slot that night.
