I know Russian Roulette was considered for syndication, IIRC right before it went to GSN. I'd like to see Sony go ahead and try to market it for 2005...I'd also like to see Fremantle push a $ale revival, but then again, with their track record... [/quote]

Sorry, Compaq and Apple are my #1 and 2 mortal computer enemies, and FORD=File On Repair Desk in my book. Of course, no offense to Apple or Ford owners. :-)

ObGameShows: TPiR gives away plenty of Fords.

Well, it's a shame that "Wayne Brady" is getting canned. I really liked his show but I never got to watch it often for where I live, it was up against back-to-back episodes of "Feud". What makes it even worse is that this time this fall, it's getting replaced w/ Tony Danza. IMO, quoting Mr. Danza,
"ay, ay, oh, ay" Disney!....what were you thinking?

Trying to get it slightly back on topic here, you know Wayne Brady was not the only talk show host to win an emmy one  year and be cancelled the next. As Bob Eubanks used to say it on "Trivia Trap", can you answer this trivia question?...

-What show won the emmy for best talk show in 1982 only for it to be cancelled the following year? I'll give you a clue, this host has been a celebrity guest (like Brady) on a couple of game shows.

I believe that talk show you are talking about is "Hour Magazine" with host Gary Collins.

Wouldn't be Gary Collins, as Hour Magazine lasted midway through the 1988-89 season.

The Richard Simmons Show, a 1980-83 syndicated half hour, is the only other host I can think of that fits the criterion.

Letterman's daytime show was in 1980, so it ain't that one.

JD's talk show ended in 1982 IIRC.

William G. Stewart's Regent Productions.  Action Time still controlled the overseas format rights, but the show disappered off their web site last fall, so I assume Fremantle now has full control.

Well, seeing from the responses, Zach--your our winner "The Richard Simmons Show" is right!

"Don Pardo, tell Zack what he's won!..."

Hey, remember "Woman to Woman"? It won the 1984 Emmy for Best Talk Show, and that was probably gone right by the time Oprah would go national.

The host of that show now runs PBS--Pat Mitchell.

ObGameShow:  Mitchell also hosted WTTG Washington's local show "Panorama," also hosted at one time by "Twenty-One" revival host Maury Povich (stretch).

ObGameShow:  PBS hasn't aired a game show in the years Mitchell's run the network.

Re:  Wayne Brady...my wife and I were pretty big fans of his until we saw him appear last season as a celebrity judge on Star Search.  He was so overly critical and mean-spirited in his comments that he came across surprisingly egotistical.  Since then it's been hard to enjoy him on his other shows.  Maybe he was just having an off-night.
