Sale of the Century: Discussion on Matt Ottinger's episode
« on: November 03, 2014, 10:22:30 AM »
Since tomorrow will be Matt O.'s episode, I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread especially for this occasion.

Matt, for a man who specializes in television research, you really played the best you could.

Do you still have any of the prizes you won?

Now imagine this 'compliment' in needlepoint.

  • Still crazy after all these years.
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

Now imagine this 'compliment' in needlepoint.

I have a needlepoint sampler my then-girlfriend made for me that says "HATE IS JUST A SPECIAL KIND OF LOVE WE SHOW TO PEOPLE WHO SUCK".

/I framed it

Exactly how long does the process take from thought to keyboard? Hint: Take longer.

I really do not get what it was I did wrong. That gave Chris Lambert, Chris Lemmon, Dale_Grass, PYLdude, and Aaron Sica the right to act this rude towards me. All I did was give Matt Ottinger a compliment. Do you have a problem with that?

Please explain. Please elaborate.

Chris Lemmon

First off, one M.

Second off, please to be showing me where my lone comment in this thread was even directed towards you, much less in any way acting rude towards you.

Then, once you fail to do that, I will await your apology.

Finally, an actual technical question for the class: is the audio sync off, and if so is this a common problem with GSN daytime? (It's entirely possible that I need to tweak a setting on my HTPC, as well, which is why I am trying to find out if it's just me.)

All I did was give Matt Ottinger a compliment.
You may have thought you were giving him a compliment, but to the wider audience it doesn't sound like one because of the order you put your chosen words in.

"Matt, it was fun to see you on TV again. You performed well and looked like you were having a good time, and I hope you cherish the memory for years and years." That's a compliment. If I were to say "If only you had resisted temptation and not bought that silly swing set you would have won the game," even if I believe I am being pleasant and complimentary, is dickish.

Communication is given and received. You are really bad at prejudging how your communiques will be received, and then take umbrage when we call you out for saying stupid crap.

Okay, I admit I was wrong with what I said about Chris Lemon in this thread.

PYLDude also deserves an apology. All he did was ask how a picture was created. He was in no way rude towards you.

And if you honestly don't get why your comment came across in the wrong way, which I don't think you do because you do this kinda crap all.the.time, then I have nothing else to say about the matter.
