Harry Friedman isn\'t a dolt; he\'s not going to choose somebody incapable or who will alienate viewers. Some names bandied about are better choices than others.

And I don\'t know enough about Dan Patrick to make a call on him.

He\'s a good guy, intelligent, but dunno if I see him in this position.

"I just wanna give a shoutout to my homies in their late-30s who are watching this on Paramount+ right now, cause they couldn't stay up late enough to watch it live!"

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

Are there no female candidates for the job? Surely a woman could host Jeopardy! just as well as either Alex Trebek or Art Fleming. Any ideas?

As an aside about Matt Lauer, I vaguely remember reading something somewhere about NBC developing a revival of Concentration some years ago, and that he was a serious contender for hosting it. Apparently the whole idea never got past the drawing board and it was scrapped in favour of an extra hour of Today. Am I dreaming in technicolour and 5.1 surround sound or is there any truth to this?

Greetings from Canada.

If you\'re looking for a woman, Lisa Ling would be a good choice.  Dare I say Oprah?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Never thought I\'d see \"stroke\" and \"Oprah\" in the same post.

Julie Chen is now the best female choice for Jeopardy named in this thread.

/And that should tell you something.
//I\'ll fall on the sword and say \"Betty White\" so you don\'t have to.

Andy Richter gets my vote.  He still needs another appearance on Celebrity

Jeopardy! to make up for when he had to bail out of 2009\'s tournament.

Meredith Viera would be great.  Should she come back into the game.  Also, Tim Brando would be great.  (You know he was considered to host Wheel after Pat left to do his late night talk show for CBS.)  As well as James Brown or Greg Gumbel.

during a \"who will take over for Alex\" thread on the old board last year, I submitted Matt\'s name as the successor for the very reasons he has the intellect the show needs, instant name recognition, and has proven ability to interact with the general public.

Everyone ignored it and said \"Jeff Probst\"

Let\'s put it this way - Lauer is a lot closer to the aesthetic of the show than some of the other new hosts I can think of lately (in other words, most of them).

This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

Jeopardy, like Feud, has such a strong format and fan base that it could possibly survive a potentially less-than-likeable host for a short time. Lauer has so much baggage and negative press right now (http://news.yahoo.com/matt-lauer-might-ruin-jeopardy-reign-terror-today-135950044.html;_ylt=A2KJ2UbwXkRRjn4AD2aPIsF_) that it would seem wrong to put him on. But if they did, at the first sign of trouble, there would be a rally to \"replace Matt Lauer\" that would come off as a positive to the show\'s image. Right now, with articles stating possible alternatives to Matt, you can bet a lot of fans responses to the producers are going, \"Given the choice, I\'ll take Cooper\", or whoever. Give someone alternatives to what would be a bad choice, and the producers get a lot of insight as to who the fans would prefer.
