Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

That's easy:  "Please, Mr. Hostman"
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

You might not have said that if you worked there when that spot was put together :)  I wish I could remember the technical term for when you can't get a song out of your head, because that's what it did to me!

There were many...I especially liked the recent vignette in which they used sound effects and clips from various game shows to make music (A knock-off of the Nike commercial that did the same thing).

I even liked the commercial in which an olympic runner was passing the slender microphone...to Gene Rayburn.

Finally..."Game Show Network: A Winner Every 30 Minutes...Guaranteed!"

My favorite is from about 2 years ago, when they would make lyrics to Match Game, Newlywed Game, and Family Feud.

Also Game Show Network. All Play, all day.

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

It aired around 1999...showed clips of contestants, with a hand slowly slamming down a PYL-like buzzer...and ended "Gameshow Network. Have you played today?"

 "It's the Family Feud
It's Feuding Family Fun..."

I was one of the few that liked those as well. They seemed to be universally hated around these parts.

I'd also nod to "Please Mr. Hostman," but another couple of favorites were the "Betty White clones are appearing on every game show!" and the Bill Cullen/IGaS promo portraying him as a private eye who's great with the dames.

Right now, "Hosts Gone Wild Primetime!" is pretty funny. "Now we're talking NAKED!!"

Sorry, but they won't top "sputnik" and "botulism"
Though I agree "a winner every 30 mins.-guaranteed" was a great tag line.

I liked the one that spoofed "I'm Just a Bill"
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

You're not the only one who liked those promos.

This is the Newlywed Game Show,
Where Bob Eubanks is host!
....

I also like the Funny Money promo with the kid, since it spoofs one of the things I'm most cynical about when it comes to politics.

One of my favorites was, I believe, called The Price is Right School of Hand Gestures.    They showed the original Barkers Beauties waving their hands to display prizes and the voiceover announcer was analyzing each gesture.

I liked the ones where the guy tries to test our "Game Show IQ."

Turns out we game show fans have each have a big Game Show IQ, do we not?

We think we do, anyhow. We also all believe we are above-average drivers. :)

Stirling Moss, the 1960s race car driver, once said
"Every man seems to think he's the best ever at driving and sex. As for bed, who knows; but when it comes to driving, most people don't have the corner of the beginning of an idea."

ObGameShws: There has never been a racing-themed game show, although individual episodes (WOF NASCAR week) have focused on the sport. They probably had NASCAR questions, too.
