I think this is the big news:

From tvgameshows.net...

GSN Millionaire Marathon Offers $1M Purse
"Game Show Network is offering its first instant win promotion with a chance for an online user to win $1,000,000.
Millionaire Madness will tie into GSN's 10-hour Who Wants to Be a Millionaire marathon Jan. 11. During the 2 p.m.-to-midnight event, GSN will telecast seven million-dollar winning episodes. The announcement was made today by GSN senior vice president of marketing Dena Kaplan and the network's interactive chief John P. Roberts.
Registered online players will have a chance to choose from four animated bank safes after each GSN interactive game. If the safes chosen reveal two matching cash amounts, the player instantly wins $1 million.
Among the other prizes: a Piaggio LT50 motor scooter from Vespa, a Stiga table tennis or Harvard super air hockey or soccer table, a Sony Ericsson T616 phone and a Whammy! or GSN gift pack.
The promotion continues through March 12. You must be a U.S. resident and at least 13 to play.
Millionaire has quickly become the flagship show in prime time for GSN. "We have been extremely pleased with the performance of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," said Kaplan. "Now we have taken the Millionaire concept to a new level - the chance for our viewers to play along at home and actually win one million dollars."
Roberts added: "Our registrant database of players has been steadily growing and now is over 1.5 million strong. (The Millionaire Madness game is) the chance of a lifetime and a great reward for those loyal players of our games."
Millionaire has increased the 8-9 p.m. ratings 20 percent on GSN and the women 25-54 demo is up 50 percent over year-ago programming. "

Well if you believe Steve Beverly, it's not TPIR...

"Contrary to online speculation and wishful thinking from Price fans, GSN is not planning an announcement this week or in the near future of any deal to bring The Price Is Right repeats back to the cable network. CBS President Les Moonves refuses to allow FremantleMedia to distribute reruns of Price while the existing series is still on the network."

Interesting as CBS doesn't own the show.

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

True, but does CBS own any stake in the show? Could they stop airing the show if it were shown on another outlet? I'm just wondering...

The ONLY power I can see that CBS has over TPiR is that they can threaten to cancel or pay less to air the show the next time it is due to be renewed.  Of course, CBS pays much more for TPiR than GSN ever will, so CBS wins every time.

I only remember 4 or 5 winners on Regis' run... if I am right, we will probably see a couple Meridith or foreign shows.

I'm shamelessly plagarizing from Stormseeker's website, but here's the list of Regis million-dollar winners:

(The totals represent all monies won, not just the initial $1M.)

Kevin Olmstead $2,180,000 Apr 10, 2001
Ed Toutant $1,860,000 Sep 7, 2001
John Carpenter $1,125,000 Nov 19, 1999
Dan Blonsky $1,000,500 Jan 18, 2000
Joe Trela $1,000,500 Mar 23, 2000
Bernie Cullen $1,000,000 Apr 15, 2001
David Goodman $1,000,000 Jul 11, 2000
Bob House $1,000,000 Jun 13, 2000
Kim Hunt $1,000,000 Jul 6, 2000

I'd love to think we'll see some foreign winners, but I suspect not.

i dont think this may be it, but i may very well be wrong.  It was said this will alter the schedule drastically most likely in 2004, but i dont know.  i still have a feeling GSN is gonna become Game TV by the end of 2004.
