Since the bonus round usually includes jokes about the person and you know, it's not exactly kosher to make fun of the recently deceased, did they put a note on saying this was taped in advance or did they just go forward as usual?
This is the first episode ever taped for the series, so I would assume it was taped before Coleman's death.
Which could explain why it wasn't the first one shown, considering there were jokes about Coleman. That being said, most shows still put up a disclaimer of sorts to avoid the "Too Soon!" factor. Most people realize that game shows don't air something taped that day, but a disclaimer wouldn't hurt.
"I just wanna give a shoutout to my homies in their late-30s who are watching this on Paramount+ right now, cause they couldn't stay up late enough to watch it live!"

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

Ran for Governor of California

Appeared in commercials for a payday loan company, Cash Call

Filed for personal bankruptcy in 1999

Starred on "Webster"

Popularized "Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis"

Attended the Wharton School of Business in 1968.

Nothing even the LEAST bit offensive or insensitive.

You know, given the fact that we saw the first-taped episode and what we saw during another early-taped show, I'm surprised they managed to get more than eight questions in during the bonus round.

In the second episode we saw (Sarah Palin and Snooki) they completed exactly eight questions before time ran out.  (They were almost through the ninth one when the buzzer sounded.)  So the contestant would have to have gone a perfect 8-for-8 on a tricky true-false game to win the $10K.

Caught the debut show on Fancast as well, and enjoyed it...even though it had the contemporary irritant of watching too much stretch. The slower you play, the less money you give away. Still, it was entertaining. It had enough play-along factor and the material was pretty good. One question...does GSN ever spend a nickel buying ads on other cable networks promoting their programs? I remember a few radio spots for one of their projects....but any video ads? For the gazillions Sony and Liberty make, why wouldn't they want to pump up one of their properties even just a little bit?

I saw some Dish Network ads for it on TV Land.

I figured out what irked me this last time, two things even.

One, as much as I feel like I'm not supposed to gripe about the lack of game play content, I blip through the wraparound bits without watching. I don't know if you could get another complete round of gameplay if you cut them entirely, but I don't watch them at all.

The other thing is that it feels like they've shown all their wares after three episodes. Even though the loose format is supposed to allow anything to happen, it doesn't feel like anything is happening. We get the same style of jokes and questions that look like they came from my Ripley's Believe it or Not game while relying a trick to be right or wrong.

All of the increased jackpots in the world can't fix that feeling of repetition.

Then you, my friend. are missing out. Some of them are farking hilarious. The one where Cashmere describes her law-enforcement bracelets is a hoot.

While I agree that some of the spots are really funny, I'm also in the camp that says they seem out of place for a show that has as little game content as it does already.  If you want to make a sitcom or sketch comedy about these characters, tell me when it's on, because I'll tune in to that too.  I've already devoured the website.  But a little bit of this and a little bit of that in the half hour doesn't click for me, and I'd just as soon they spent that time in the studio, whether for more material or for more jokes there.

I disagree, however, with Travis' other point, or at least I don't see how it's any different than any other redundant game show (i.e., just about all of them).  Sure, some more spontaneity would be swell, but it's hard to be spontaneous when you're crouched down behind a desk with a puppet on your arm.

How do you think the puppets feel, sitting there with a hand up their asses? :)

I liked the one from last week where Sebastian is talking to someone-or-other behind a door; that was neat. I guess it depends on the character and the joke. But that's 99/100 of humor anyway. I'll check out the other ones, too.

His byplay with Mickey Rourke ("That one lady...she don't got no points, Lar!") was inspired absurdity. And I like him best of all the puppets.

I'm not sure how to explain or rationalize it, but I like to have more game to my show than what LNL is providing. At least Match Game could get a whole game and bonus game within a show. Hollywood Squares could usually play three games plus a bonus of some sort. I will put up with less game if there were more funny, and I don't think the equation is quite right, for me personally.

I'm going to be very disappointed if Weasel doesn't show up again in the Henson repertoire.
