$10,000/$20,000 Pyramid question
« on: August 03, 2009, 03:15:05 PM »
I've got a question about the ABC era of The $10,000/$20,000 Pyramid. It's somewhat of a complicated puzzle that I have been trying to piece together, but with no such luck. Anyways, here's the question:

Between 5/6/74 and 6/12/78, when exactly did the preemptions for the ABC run occur on?

The reason I asked this question is because of the following:

1) The 8/10/76 episode of The $20,000 Pyramid with JoAnne Worley & Tony Randall (the one where Tony gave an illegal clue for the subject "Cotton Things" in the 2nd Winner's Circle), was production number #577, per the production slate at the beginning of that episode. That number meant that it was the 577th ABC daytime episode, and by that point, the ABC run had been preempted 15 times.

2) The 6/12/78 episode with Sandy Duncan & Nipsey Russell, which was also the earliest ABC episode that GSN has shown, was production number #1049, and by that point, the ABC run had been preempted 22 times.

3) The 23rd and final preemption for the ABC run occurred on 3/27/80, during the Linda Kelsey & Fred Grandy week. By the time the final episode aired, which was exactly 3 months later, the ABC run had a total of 1,582 daytime episodes.

"Pyramid" ran at 4 p.m. I think that's when the Afterschool Specials would run, every so often.

I wonder how many episodes Watergate, specifically Nixon's resignation on 8/9/74, accounted for?...
Kris Lane's Pyramid site mentions no episodes on 7/10/75 (1 ep.), the week of 12/1-5/75 (5 eps.; LMaD hour-long episode), 11/25-26/76 (2 eps; Thanksgiving). That makes for eight right there...

"I just wanna give a shoutout to my homies in their late-30s who are watching this on Paramount+ right now, cause they couldn't stay up late enough to watch it live!"

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

ABC used to have the "Afternoon Playbreak" anthology which would knock out 1:30 to 3:00 every so often in 74-75.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.
