White Castle's fries are among my favorites, along with Wendy's and Chick-Fil-A.  (Ooh, we're going even further off-topic!)  White Castle is a once every 6 months thing for me, since the closest White Castle is about 20 miles from here.  I have to savor the moment.

You could almost make the opposite case for Five Guys, though that's more a question of utility than preference.

/Same for The Original Hot Dog Shop
//Happy Birthday McDonald's
///Is really considering going to Five Guys right now.

I live within WALKING DISTANCE of a White Castle. Anytime I can get sliders hot and fresh in five minutes.

I will now stop talking to give you ample time to envy me.

Golly, but I love this place.  Laughs all around.

I second this. Can't believe I forgot it.
Thirded.  Five Guys just hit the east side of Cleveland in the past 6 weeks.

And a 10-pack of White Castle sliders run about $6.40 here....not that I've ever bought a 10-pack of sliders.  I had to get fries with it.
Surprised a 10-pack doesn't come with a free bottle of Kaopectate.

If we're going to talk pricey-but-good, we might as well bring up Culver's or - more localized to NW Indiana and parts of IL - Schoop's.  Culver's/Schoop's > McDonald's/Burger King.

If you get a chance to go north of the border, try Harvey's or Licks.  Licks is a personal fave as they will ask you for your name, then sing when you ask for your toppings.

Ryan :)

(I usually tell them my name is Bort, just to see the reaction)

Any good/bad critique on Smashburger?  With Red Robin already here (burgers aren't too bad -- extra points for unlimited fries), Smashburger is opening up here next month, and will only be the 2nd "specialty burger" joint in the area.

Okay, now I have to try Schoop's when we're in Michigan City next week.

Culver's is almost the only restaurant Karen, Danny, and I agree on at all times.

Now I feel compelled to restrain myself from going far into the Chicago suburbs for either when I'm out there next weekend. Anyone know of a Culver's or a Shoop's relatively close to Chicago near Metra or the South Shore (since none seem to be anywhere near the L)?

Looks like your best bet is Franklin Park, where there appears to be a Culver's about half a mile south of the Franklin Park station on Metra's Milwaukee District-West line (the station is at 3148 Rose Street, Culver's is at 2751 Rose Street).  I'm not familiar with the area, so I can't vouch for how doable the walk would be.

Is this the most off-topic thread in the history of the GSF yet?
