"Presenter" is the British term. I find an awful lot of Brit-speak in Wikipedia, even though articles' language usage are supposed to reflect the country of origin of the subject. WP could tweak those infoboxes, but it would require an awful lot of editing.

That's quite interesting, although you would never hear of a "game show presenter" over here, always host.

Although if the language is meant to reflect the country of origin, it's OK to use Brit terms because we invent most of your shows anyway. ZING.

I think of a presenter as someone on an awards show who presents an award to someone, like the Oscars, the Emmys, etc. Is "narrartor" the term for an announcer "across the pond?" I just don't see the "presenter" term working here in the colonies . . "And here's the presenter of TPIR, Drreeewwww Carey." Of course, there are those who think Drew Carey doesn't work as the host of TPIR, either. . . .

My pet peeve on this topic is when someone says Bob Barker is the ORIGINAL host of TPIR. Most of the time, it's a young person who never saw or heard of Bill Cullen's version.

No, "voiceover" would be the usual term. Maybe "narrator" if it was a reading of something. The UK just doesn't have "announcers" in the US sense.

I'm not entirely certain of the point you're making here, although to answer the previous questrion DoND is Dutch and The Mole is Belgian. But the point remains, if it wasn't for Fifth Grader (and that's only a minor hit over here) and Wipeout, what's the US successfully exported gameshow wise in the last ten years? No you can't have The Power of 10 (cancelled everywhere).

Meanwhile we give you Millionaire, Survivor, Po... sorry, American Idol, Strictly Come Dancing With The Stars... the list is LITERALLY endless. Cat Deeley. Ant and Dec. Nigel Lythgoe. Simon Cowell. And so on.

Power of 10 is still on the air in several countries: Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Sweden and Russia, AFAIK. England would have gotten the Power of 10 (I believe it would have been called Power of 5 had it been commissioned), but you guys got Duel instead (which was still better than the US version).
