Super Password 1/21

Got a question about today's Super Password for 1/21:

Did the week with Rebeca Arthur/Tom Poston really have 6 episodes instead of 5, like the episode guide that was posted on "that other board" stated?

Oh, and just for the record, the Super Password episode guide that was posted on "that other board" came straight from the now-defunct super-password.com.

Also, did GSN skip over any episodes of Super Password today?

Actually, no, it did not.  By the poster's own admission (emphasis mine)...

Here is from my records, plus 1987-1989 from the SP website episode guide.
So although some information came from there, the guide that was posted was not "straight from" there.

Also, you're not going to get in trouble for mentioning the GSN board by name, only by citing it as a legitimate source.  I know that you and your friends have bashed us constantly because — unlike Guide_Angel — we don't allow people to make things up here, we do allow people to offer corrections when wrong information is posted, and we do allow people to have differing opinions.  But the sooner you understand and accept that we have different rules, the more enjoyable your experience here will be.

Just like me. This is really, a much funner place to be.

Back to the topic at hand, does anyone know why they had 6 episodes instead of 5 for 5 weeks?

You mean that the week that I mentioned in my original post did have 6 episodes after all, and that GSN aired the 6th and last episode of that particular week, today?

I have an entirely different question about today's episode.  I came in during the $300 puzzle in the middle of the show, yet the score was $300 to $100. How was that possible? It should have been $200 to $100, or $300 to $0, should it not?

On Friday's episode, there was a mistake in judging about a word(I can't remember the word right now). So they decided to give both contestants $100 for the first game.

On Friday's episode, there was a mistake in judging. The judges said a word was not a word, but they grabbed the wrong dictionary and later found out it was a word(I can't remember the word right now). So they gave both contestants $100 for the first game.

Wasn't there a similar situation on the first show of the taping, where the previous Friday another judging mistake occured--but what they did on this occasion is give the winner of the $200 puzzle that money "off the board" and then replayed the $200 puzzle?

Seems they could've done the same thing here--give the winner of the $100 puzzle that money off the board, then replay the $100 puzzle.

But what do I know after 19 years?  :)

About whether the show did 5 weeks that had 6 episodes taped or not, considering the fact that the first episode of a new week aired today, My best guess is that these following dates from 1989; 2/6, 2/14, 2/22, 3/2, and 3/10, were preempted.

What about the week of 8/3/1987, though? If you recall, the episode guide on the defunct Super Password website didn't list any celebrities for that particular week. What was the reason for no celebrities on that week?

Huh?

The first ep of the new week (which aired today as Xavier told you) was the sixth episode of the taping, no?  And there were five six-show tapings before they got it back to five-show tapings for the final two weeks.  Therefore, I don't see how you can infer any eps were preempted.

Well, it's just that this week now has Pat Carroll/Andrew Stevens on as the celebrity guests. I apologize if I'm being confused.

The pre-emptions caused TV listings to be inaccurate and to list and extra episode for those weeks.  From what I can gather, it seems that August 87 week was pre-empted entirely because of the Iran Contra hearings.
