Now, see, I wanted George F. Will and William F. Buckley.

Oh, and that actress from "Life with Elizabeth"*

I wonder if we don't see any celebs under 30 on the show. Since the last original episode of Password (ok, it was Super Password) aired in 1989, today's twentysomethings have never seen a revival or updated version of the show (except for GSN reruns). They don't know who Allen Ludden was (or know the name of his wife - another Betty White reference), or why he was called "Mr. Password."

You wonder if we're going to see a Password in name only. You remember the last attempt of a revival of a G-T show - Card Sharks 2001. We know (painfully) HOW that turned out. I hope that Fremantle/Pearson/All-American keeps the Password we know and love, and not do things that make the game more appealing to the twentysomethings who've never seen Password while turning off the game show fan base. Clip Chips, anyone?

Of course, we also don't know for certain that these people *can't* play they game. It's even possible that, back when SP was still on, it was one or two of them's favorite show (though I wouldn't count on it). It's been gone long enough that I wouldn't expect anyone (except you-know-who, of course) to play all that well to begin with, but if you had them (and the prospective contestants, for that matter) watch a week's worth of old shows before taking the test to get a feel for the game then there's at least a chance they'll do well enough for a start. Assuming all the other aspects of the show (format, writing, etc) don't ruin it before the first word is played.

Or you could intentionally get stupid players and do the show for comedy... but that doesn't fit with a million dollar prize.

Actually, I'd like to see Ricki Lake on the show.  I think she's a smart cookie. (Do people still say that?)
And, despite my dire prediction, I expect to see Betty White.

It's going to be interesting to watch : This is the first network celebrity/civilian game show with a $1Million top prize. If you felt it was awkward on Donnymid when Jillian Barberie torpedo'ed a contestant's shot at big money, wait till the first time a frustrated contestant takes a full-cocked swing at Kathy Griffin after a blown money round on Password .

/Damn right I'd watch that.
//And the Entertainment Tonight coverage of it.
///And I'd download it on YouTube.
////Often.

Part of me thinks the producers will realize that one million IS a lot of money, and not just what all the other "cool kids" offer on their shows. As a result, they'll actually look for people who a) know how to play the game, and b) know there's money on the line, and play a good game, not just go on board to pimp their project or goof off the whole time with shenanigans.

Then again, this is Fremantle, and I wouldn't put it past them to intentionally book celebrities for their shenanigans. That way, they'll never worry about having to cough up a cool million. Gee, another American Idol showdown, anyone?

Okay, that's a bit much, but most of us know how Fremantle can be, making ridiculous changes just because. Would be nice if they actually take this show seriously, and not resort to shenanigans while giving away so much money.

/I'll pistol-whip the next guy that says shenanigans!

If that happened, I would pull a Karlberg.  ;)

Perhaps Jim Nantz would play the game well.

Perchance Bea Arthur?

How about the woman who played Ellen in Carol Burnett's "The Family" sketches?

/And seriously, how about Carol Burnett?
//I'd love seeing another Burnett/Lawrence match.
///Especially if they did one game in character.

Aw, dude, you left off Brian Dunkleman and Kato Kaelin.

Bonaduce can wrestle his opponents (except Betty White).

Is it beyond the realm of possibility that they'd get celebrities people have heard of? Each pair only has to sit there for an hour, and it is prime time. Regis got good celebrities for Millionaire, why not here?

Maybe it would be an inducement if they split the prize money between the civilian and the star's charity.

Each pair will have to sit there for more than an hour, if every other primetime game show of the last 2 years' inaugural taping is any indication.
