Just because Bob Barker has retired from TPIR doesn't mean he is sitting around the house.  Looks like Bob wants to make un-spayed & un-neutered pets illegal in California!

I have nothing against Barker advocating that people spay or neuter their pets. But once there's a law on the table that you HAVE to do it or you're breaking said law, that's where I draw the line. If you want to spay or neuter your pets, fine. But that should be your choice, and not the government's requirement. (I've got a dog who we never got fixed, and he's 12. It's our choice.)

Does that dog leave your yard, or comingle with other animals unsupervised in any way? Can you GUARANTEE me that at NO time during those 12 years did a stray bitch in heat wander around? 'Cuz if you can't, guess what? You're part of the problem.

/okay, so I just wanted to type the phrase "bitch in heat" in a totally legitimate context

Outside of taking him on walks, no, and even then it's usually once around the block and that's it. We kept him inside (and still do).

So, if a pet is abandoned and is still able to breed, it should be penalized because of someone's neglect?

Also, how do you prove that an animal was a stray or abandoned?
