WOF Backdrop Question
« on: June 26, 2007, 08:17:29 PM »
When I was viewing videos on YouTube the other day of Wheel of Fortune, I came across a clip that featured diamond shaped backdrops.  Unfortunately, I neglected to save this clip.

I know that in '89 they were using Chevrons, and by '94 or so, they used sunbursts.  When were the diamonds used?

Edit: Title should say Backdrop, but I can't edit itcouldn't edit my typo previously.
Edit #2: The clip seen here.

They used those diamonds when they went to NY for the first time in 1988.  Those diamonds were also featured in that music stars week in 1994 (is that the clip you are referring to?).  From my memory, it seems that those diamonds were only used on roadtrips.

The daimond backdrops were used regularly in the 1991-1992 season; I think that's the only season in which that's the case. By the 1992-1993 season, they had circles with W's outlining them for the regular shows, but the daimonds continued being used for road trips.

They used them in the 1990-91 season as well; that and the black floor to make the show look different than the daytime version which still used the chevrons (slightly altered from 1989)

They were used was when WOF went to Walt Disney World in their 89-90 season, as well (I have the tapes as evidence).

From that point on, they were the regular backdrops for traveling as others had said. Others were also correct that they were the regular ones used in the 1991-1992 season, when they also introduced the black flooring (I have those tapes as well)...
