Only 30 spaces on the puzzle board now?  So they've actually shrunken the board from their '80s home game version, while the board on the show expanded.  Er, yeah, that makes sense.  Then again, having a $5000 top value on the wheel for all four rounds is another stroke of brilliance.  Having the same values all four rounds worked in '85, when $750 was top dollar and there were $500 and $600 spaces.  But now, with $300-$900 surrounding the 5k... it weakens the gameplay.  Just put the $2500 space on there instead.  Or bring back $1000.

And outside of us, who knows that the 80s game(s) had more spaces? I had two Wheel games in the 80s, and I didn't even know that. Will it make for smaller puzzles, possibly, but I'm sure it could still be a fun game to play.

I do agree that it's silly to have a $5,000 for every single round, but that's easy to take care of...just call it the top dollar value for each respective round, i.e. round 1=$1,000, round 2=$2,500, round 3=$3,500, then round 4=$5,000. Crisis averted.

I still think that the 1975 WoF game was a stroke of genius.  We'll give you some puzzles, but you are free to make your own for eternity.

Really, a modicum of work in Microsoft Word could make an easy-to-print template for Wheel that would work just fine for the home game. (Assuming the cards are less than 11 inches wide; I haven't seen the inside of the home game for years."

My abacus. Where's my abacus? 2007 minus 1975 gives me 32.

They go by 1983.  To this new-age of 'Wheel', Woolery never left Wheel...because it never existed (to them).

Still, 22 years later, a crayon on a cardboard card doesn't "wipe off". Even having a dry-erase marker would help. In addition, the box states that it contains "Bonus Puzzles based on the 1980s" So Pressman decided to add The 80s as a category. Big whoop.

How many Pressman employees does it take to create a decent Wheel home game?

On the subject of the 1 vs. 100 electronic game:

I bought mine at Target the other day.  I just got it out to play it today, and the A button doesn't work.  Anyone else have this problem, or did I get super lucky for buying this game on 7-7-07?

Deal or No Deal for the Nintendo DS is in stores.  This afternoon, I saw it at the local Micro Center for $29.99.  Target.com has it for the same price.  Some DS screenshots can be seen here.

So they advertise "family games for family prices", and then charge what is basically the going rate for a DS game for it?

I'd burn in hell before I bought a DonD game anyhow, but there is NO WAY that it's worth more than $20. Big Brain Academy was $20, and that was actually a good game.

I agree with you 100%, Chris.  However, Deal or No Deal is a big name title for Destination software, compared to Chicken Shoot, Uno, or those 4-in-1 board game compilations.  I'm not justifying the $30 tag vs. $15 or $20 for just about any other Destination title.  All they're doing is milking the cash cow called Deal or No Deal.

The Destination site removed Deal as coming for the Wii.  That could've been a halfway interesting game if Miis were involved in some capacity.

I enjoy Big Brain but Brain Age did a superb job with sudoku.  Still, both games are likely superior to Deal.
