When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

I'm just glad I was able to see the show in person for the first time this past July with Bob still at the helm.

It had to happen eventually.  50 years is a great milestone to end on.

You know--you and me both (of course, last July wasn't my first time).  When Don posted the news, my first thought was, "I've been there twice (once on my own and once with the Congreff pilgrimage), and how lucky I was to be able to just go and do that."  I had an absolute blast those two times.

I just hope to heck it is not a cruel joke like from April Fool's Day. I saw it on yahoo and it was like wow..50 years is a long time. IMHO, it may be hard to replace Bob Barker, but I'm sure someone will come along and do a good job, I just don't know if the new host can do it for 35 years.

This is news that's coming from the Associated Press, one of the most credible news sources in the country. I doubt this is a "cruel joke".

"I just wanna give a shoutout to my homies in their late-30s who are watching this on Paramount+ right now, cause they couldn't stay up late enough to watch it live!"

Now celebrating his 21st season on GSF!

Nope, no joke, I saw it on the AP here at work.  Personally if I were him I would've retired 12-13 year ago and just enjoyed life, but then it dawned on me, his wife's death could've had a lot to do with why he kept working.

I certainly wish him well.  TV legends of his caliber don't come along every day and won't.

...and the AP didn't exactly pick it up from the grapevine either, Bob told them himself.  CBS then backed it up.

We all knew the day would come, one way or another, but still, there is a bit of shock on my part. It only takes three words for me to sum up this announcement: THANK YOU, BOB!

A Thursday not long after May sweeps... could be a primetime airdate.

One of the AP stories I saw does make reference to some kind of prime time special at some point.

Just talking about this at work with some folks...realized that I (and a couple other people here) have not known a time when Bob Barker wasn't hosting TPiR every weekday morning.[/quote]
You can add most of the "rest" of us by making it "I have not known a time when Bob Barker wasn't on TV" as I too come from the TorC days.

So who will be next? Hmmmmm.... (if this is true, which I bet it is. Going out on 35 is a good, round TPiR number.)
And he didn't overbid. (Barely ;) )
