I only want to see something other than the finale because I want to see something *different*.    That is the simplest of explanations and why anyone in their right mind would interpret it otherwise is beyond me.

No, considering some of the selfish chuckleheads we have around here who make THE most unreasonable requests in the name of their Almighty Tape Collections, I don't think it's an unreasonable interpretation at all. I apologized for my error when I discovered I'd made one. If that's not enough for you, well, then, tough.

Good Lord, the last ABC Password has been a dirt common item on the trade circuit since 1994 if anyone had a clue as to what really goes on.
Or, indeed, don't participate in the trading circuit. Like an awful lot of us. Certainly I've never seen it, and I'd rather see an episode in that format than one of the tired old ones in a format I've seen a billion times before and really honestly can't stand.

Well that doesn't speak well of certain people in the trade circuit.   I have never adopted a perspective of I will accept only a certain narrow thing for a particular item or any other item someone is potentially interested in.     It's like in the sports realm where I unearthed a rare college football game despite the fact I have almost no interest in college football.    But when the college football buffs who I knew would love the game came calling and could only offer other CFB games, I didn't say "call me back only when you've got baseball to offer."

Same thing with game shows.    If the guy only has a bunch of Dating Games at his disposal I'll try to accomodate even though I despise all things Barris.     That kind of policy should be the norm for all unless they're the ones who say, paid a thousand dollars to get a copy of something out of an archive, and want to wait to recoup partially some of the expense they incurred in some way by waiting to trade for something equally rare.

ABC Password is not represented in the pre-All Stars format, and I want to see an episode in that format.    When I already have the last episode with its original commercials, I'm not getting much at all when I see it on GSN other than slightly improved picture.

You're right, your intentions are much less cynical than I thought, and for that I am truly sorry.
AND
Oh, Christ. If you're gonna play THAT card, feel free to start staying away again. That's SO tiresome.

Chris, we've really got to work on your "apologies".  Perhaps, you know, something that goes "I'm sorry" and then DOESN'T turn right around and launch some separate attack in the very same post?

Oh, crap. You yourself have said many times how annoying it is when someone plays the "now I know why I don't post here" card. I apologized, and he came back with more attitude. Certainly I can take it, but if he wants me to genuflect or beg for his forgiveness or something, well, no. Particularly to a guy who's crowning achievement on ATGS was the insistence that the incident that got Opie & Anthony fired from terrestrial radio was specifically a slam on Catholicism.

I didn't say anything further in my last post, but if you're going to take further shots at me, then all bets are then off.

I could care less what other people have done  about "what card they played" because I don't frigging know what they've done here to get you riled up for a reason that has not a whit to do with what I posted, and which you were too dense to figure out was the reason behind that post in the first place (it takes a very dense mind to see the post I made with a smiley face and come up with the paranoic interpretation you did).     When I spend three years away from game show forums and then come back and decide to rekindle some fun, and then I find a snotty post of the kind you made for an uncalled for reason that only reminds me of the conduct of certain people I've come across in the past, believe me I'm not going to react to it placidly.

The fault for any unpleasantness in this thread is entirely your own, and I think you'd best be a man and confine your remarks to admitting your responsibility and not fuel the fires any longer in a pathetic attempt to let yourself off the hook.

Gee Mr. Whiny, I like to think all the effort I slaved away doing a B/W Overnight Guide on ATGS on a nightly basis for many months says a lot more about my "crowning achievements" at ATGS then registering a perfectly legit POV about a couple of unfunny shock-jocks.

You know, when Mr. Lemon asked me for forgiveness (even though he didn't have to and was in the right), I just accepted it. In fact, my respect for the man increased tenfold when he offered the apology. It takes a lot of GUTS to do something like that. It takes just as much guts to admit you were wrong (as I did).

Chris Lemon is not a jerk, he's just honest and speaks what's on his mind. I've had a private conversation with Mr. Lemon, and I can tell you, when you don't try to piss him off, the man is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Sorry you can't handle the truth.

/No, he did not pay me to say that. :)

How many people on here are "active" in the trade circuit?  I want to say it's less than 100.

THe only person who can't handle the truth is Mr. Lemon (and I use that title loosely), since he decided he just had to deflect his stupidity with another cheap shot and when he was being taken to task for that by someone else, then decided that he was going to start using his personal prejudice over the fact that I once had an unflattering thing to say about Opie and Anthony as his excuse for not being a person of integrity.

The only time the word gut belongs in a sentence to describe him is when the gut is followed by less.

If I choose to venture a legitimate opinion that I would like to see a different episode of ABC Password after 12 years of seeing the same three over and over again, that is my business, and my perogative, as it is for anyone else who feels likewise.     And for anyone to turn that legitimate POV into something supposedly horrific as you would evidently choose to do, doesn't exactly speak well of you either.

That view is legitimate in your opinion.  However, you said:
Quote

So, because I haven't been on the trade circuit since '94, and I'm no longer active on it (got burned twice), I'm less informed than you?  Yeah, whatever.  In my opinion, you come off very poorly...and from what I can tell, you're the one causing the friction:
Quote
And you're still a jerk.
Quote
Gee Mr. Whiny
Quote
then you only show what an obnoxious jerk you are.
Quote
THe only person who can't handle the truth is Mr. Lemon (and I use that title loosely),
Quote
and I think you'd best be a man
FWIW, through all these disagreements, Chris hasn't taken any cheap shots at you, and you've taken five at him.  Granted, me and him rarely agree...but IMO, you're coming off as a two-year old in need of a pacifier.

#1-It is being very ill-informed if one person decides to take an innocuous comment with a smiley about not wanting to see the last Password reaired because he makes the assumption that somehow it's for a sinister reason.     Then of course, there's the simple idiocy of going for the negative assumption in the first place to make a cheap shot as he did.

#2-I referred to him as Mr. Whiny, only because he said, which you so conveniently neglected to quote, that I wasn't worth making amends to because of what I said on ATGS five years ago about a couple of people I think are anti-Catholic bigots that he said was the sum total of what I did there.     The fact that this was a false characterization of what I did on ATGS, evidently mattered not a whit either in your eyes it would seem.     He was the one whining at Matt for taking him to task, and then decided to unload on me once again after I had made a posting in which I wasn't commenting on his behavior any longer.

#3-You then go back to the "obnoxious jerk" comment from my first justifiably angry reaction after he was the one who unloaded on me for a phony reason as it turned out, so I don't need to defend that one.    I was justifiably upset by what he did, and I'm not about to apologize for being angry in that instance.

In short, your characterization of how this exchange then unfolded is dishonest.    And there is nothing more dishonest than your trying to state that he never took a cheap shot at me.     And that sir, is my opinion, and one I'm sticking to with no regrets.   It that troubles you,  Mr. Sanctimony with the pornographic metaphor for a signature, well then tough.

I have not one clue what you're talking about.  I have more important things to worry about than infighting on defunct newsgroups.
