'TAR 8 & 9' Episodes Debut at 2AM on GSN?!
« on: August 18, 2006, 04:00:22 AM »
I don't have a direct link to back this up, only the Time Warner Cable TV guide in my cable box I'm looking at on the tube.  If you have one you too can forward the schedule over to 2AM on Monday 8/27 (actually Tuesday 8/28) and see that GSN has listed 'The Amazing Race: FAMILY EDITION' as the show that will appear there at 2AM.

Holy crap, could GSN really be dumping new-to-GSN episodes from last TV season's two 'TAR' seasons in the middle of the night to fulfill a contractual obligation?  They did it before with the second season of 'Kenny vs. Spenny' but, unlike that Canadian import (which sucked STRAWBERRY Pop Tarts!), 'TAR' is a pretty good show and has a loyal (albeit small) fan base.  You'd think GSN would create new promos and try to drum up attention to 28 new 'TAR' episodes (assuming 'TAR 9' follows 'Family Edition' in two weeks' time) to air on Saturday nights over several weeks (or even a return to the weekday primetime schedule to give the 'Dog' repeats a break).  No, instead GSN upsets loyal B&W Overnight/WML? fans by taking away their beloved nightly ritual and dumps new programs at a time when even its most hardcore fans would be hard-pressed to stay up and watch/tape them.  Who is running this network??!!

P.S.: I know it's Rich Cronin that runs GSN, just trying to be sarcastic and make a point.  On this board you gotta be careful or the wording of your posting will get more attention that the actual content of the post itself.

That's because this board actually gives two tin craps about grammar and spelling, unlike that "other" board.

He has some creepy breakfast food sucking fetish I think.  He's mentioned sucking pop tarts a ton of times.  Oh well, it could be worse.  It could be sucking Captain Crunch, which would have a whole new meaning.

Actually, most of us are willing to overlook spelling (especially basic typos), if the content is worthwhile.

Most of us.

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised they'd do this.  From what I've gathered, seasons 1-7 did pretty well the first time GSN ran through them, and it was only in subsequent cycles that the ratings suffered.  So I would think they'd run through seasons 8-9 once in primetime before banishing them to graveyard time slots.  Then again, I suppose these seasons are fresher in people's minds.

Our friend Alex from http://www.buzzerblog.com/ confirms he got an e-mail from GSN that the 'Family Edition' of 'TAR' will kick off GSN's overnight repeats of the series.  He even mentions me for tipping him off about it!

You know, you take this waaaay too far.  I find it to be basic courtesy to at least try to type in complete sentences.  However, I'm not the grammar police.  Sometimes a misspelled or word or improper grammar usage ain't that big of a deal.  But you've castigated people with one error. You surely do not represent my view point, and more than likely, the viewpoints of other "grammar champions" on this board, I'll tell you for damn sure.

What in the hell is your problem?

I'd explain, but it's really not worth it.
I think I'll just suck down a Pop Tart instead.

Hey, it could be worse - he could be complaning about the old or new boxes, and hiding his eyes. :)

Sucking pop tarts?? I tried that before and it doesn't work, I couldn't get all of it in my big mouth..moving on. If TAR is going to air that late, then what the hell is gonna happen at the 10pm time slot, will TAR also air, or something?? I never watch the damn program, but that's just me.

Zap2it lists for 8/26:
All times ET

10pm-Lingo
10:30pm-Lingo
11pm-Dog Eat Dog

So basically we're going to be seeing more re-run abused shows in place of TAR on Saturday nights.

Oh wonderful..the same damn shows that we've seen over and over and over again. Why not put George Gray's version of the weakest link around the 10pm time? Or Match Game for that matter? Just wondering

That most people haven't seen once, if at all.

As I state over and over, GSN can't depend on getting audiences with "appointment television."  They get audiences with "nothing else is on--let's watch 'Match Game.'"  As long as you look at it that way, the scheduling makes perfect sense.

What are you talking about? The DED eps have been run through probably 99,999 times and the current Lingo eps have probably been run through 10-20 times since that season ended.
