GSN should call this list what it really is : The 50 Greatest Game Shows (Which We Have The Right To Air) Of All Time. If it were a REAL greatest game shows list, you would see TPIR on there.

Exactly how many times to people need to make this point?  We get it.  Let's just wait and see.

Thank you.  I think people are being too cynical about this list.  While I'm sure there will be some questionable choices on the list (based on the promos and the press release, I can already name two), I don't think this is just going to be "The Best of the GSN Library".  They don't have enough time slots to air full episodes of every show on the list anyway, so ones that aren't in their library will probably just be represented by clips and whatnot.  I would guess that, at the very least, TPiR will make the list.

Also, FWIW, the schedule on GSN.com has a specific game show listed at 10 pm next Wednesday.  I won't disclose which one it is, but it's a show that would normally run for a half-hour, and not one of the shows that GSN normally airs in prime time.  It could just be an error, but I wouldn't put it past GSN to have effectively revealed one of the shows from 48-46.

For those of you that are dying to find out in advance what shows made the cut, I've posted a list of shows 50 - 42.
The partial spoiling list can be viewed here

To those that view the list, tune in July 18th for incredulity-melting confirmation.

Well, yea...that was unexpected. Not complaining, just not what I expected, especially #47. ESPECIALLY #47.

I wonder which version #44 will be.

Probably all versions will be featured. After all, it spanned 4 decades.

Never in a thousand years would I have expected 47 either. I don't have a problem with 50, which was actually barely edged out of my own personal Top 50 on Page O' Clips.
I already completely disagree with the bottom-of-the-list placement of 49 & 48...but I'm sure there's going to be a a million disagreements amongst the masses.
Scuse me, I must vent a bit in the ol' LiveJournal.

#47: You've gotta f*****g be kidding me.  What the...just...why?  More importantly, just how in the Holy Gazpacho did 47 get ahead of 48 or 49. (YMMV on 49, but I'd like to believe  that 48 was a danged fine show, worthy of higher placement)

I'm guessing that they'll spend about 7-10 minutes on shows they don't have, and a full episode on all they do have.

That would match up with the shows/dates:

50 and 49 both get full episodes
48 and 46 both get full episodes, while 47 gets 7-10 (7 to 10 I'll never get back)
45, 44, and 42 will probably get variable amounts, while 43 gets a full episode

Keep in mind who voted.

Young yuppies at their desks...probably not even heard of some of the shows...I wouldn't hesitate to bet that many of the people that work at GSN aren't actual game show fans.

I'm sure those GSN execs must've known what they were thinking when they compiled that list.  I have no problem with #50 as well as some of the other early entrants.  #49 is a bit low I thought.  #47 sure came out of left field there.  I always that it was a dating show more than a game show myself.  I'll have to flp between that & WSoPC next week on Tues & Wed.

Yes, and since the mass majority of what goes on behind-the-scenes on the business side of a television station has not one single thing to do with the material they are airing, that's fine. They are no less qualified to do their job. I bet a lot of the business folks at ESPN aren't sports fans, either.

/some would suggest the PROGRAMMING folks at ESPN aren't sports fans

TitanTV.com, so THAT'S where my source got the info. Oof.
It looks like that if it says "New" next to the listing for '50 Greatest,' they list the shows.

Well, we get the first episode of Three's A Crowd for #50.

The intro/beginning with Bill Dwyer made me cringe. It seemed so unnatural and forced. Hopefully this isn't how the whole countdown will be. It will be interesting to see how they handle the shows they can't show in full.

Far as I know (I could be wrong), GSN's never aired this one before.

Awesome, indeed!
