$100k Pyramid Record
« on: March 06, 2006, 10:58:57 PM »
On Sunday, the reigning champion had won a whopping $65,000 in change, and was coming back for her fifth (that's right, fifth) day, having one more shot to get in the Pyramid. Dick mentions on her return to the Winner's Circle that a $10,000 win would set a record for total winnings in the 'qualifying' portion of the show, and surely a non-tournament record. No $10k was coming, so I'm left to ask:

What's the record for most money won on a Pyramid show outside of the $100,000 tournament?

Was the contestant in question the champion before the last tourney was held? Otherwise, that's the highest five-day cash record. They rarely mentioned the value of Mystery 7 prizes when talking about a contestant's total winnings.

For CBS $25K, the cash record was $60,050 set on the last week of the second series in June 1988. There was a contestant in 1985 whom Dick said had won cash and prizes worth over $68K.

Perhaps I was unclear. The record for most money won on "The $100,000 Pyramid", 1985-1988 version, discounting any moneys won during the tournaments.

The lady you cite from Sunday's episode(s), whose name escapes me, is I believe the all time non-tourney $100K Pyramid winner.

The woman you mentioned, Kathy Rexsteiner (unsure of spelling) was indeed the biggest non-tournament winner on any "Pyramid" version, at $66,450. She also has to hold the record for picking the most bonus cards: five 7-11s and four Mystery 7s...and she won the bonus all nine times!
