Title: TTTT91 "before they were stars" alert
Post by: zachhoran on July 28, 2005, 09:52:59 AM
JAG's Catherine Bell, who was then known as Cathy Bell, a massage therapist, was an imposter in the first game of today's 1/14/91 airing of TTTT. She won $1000 as the panel was stumped identifying the real SHelly Michelle(sp?), a body double for Kim Basinger and Catherine Oxenberg. Cathy had previously been a contestant on the 8/31/90 episode of Match Game, but narrowly lost her game 900-850.

I think that's some Line of the Day material right there. You win a $10 Bed Bath and Beyond gift card. :-)

Getting back to some semblance of seriousness, have we skipped ahead in the run?  Seems that we should've been seeing the week of shows that included the run-on-GSN-17-times Xmas Day episode (unless the shows airing now were taped before that but aired afterwards).

Yes, I'm aware of the possibility that they're being held back in case TTTT90 is still airing around Xmastime this year.

Yes, we've skipped.  Word is that holiday shows don't play well this time of year -- whatever that means -- so GSN leapfrogged Christmas and New Year's weeks.  It's a shame, too: there's a great spot on the Christmas Eve show featuring a man whose story revolved around being a "TTTT" impostor in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s...only to turn up finally as a central character in 1990.

And on that 1990 episode (which featured mini-clips from the man's early appearances) the guy's imposters were the central characters on the shows where he played the imposter. Very clever indeed.

Sorry I missed that one.  So the week that ended yesterday aired initally 1/7-11/91?

I guess they are not familiar with Christmas in July.

Plus there were recent episodes of Eubanks Card Sharks with an Xmas set.

They're showing  New Year's Eve 1987 week of Super Password this week in order to pay homage to Jimmy Doohan, though there was no holiday decorations on the set. Was there a Happy New Year reference made by Bert on today's 12/31/87 airing?

OK, Zach, probably because it was a TRIBUTE. They prolly would've shown the week of episodes regardless of when he appeared.

I like your 'Truth' site. Maybe you (or someone else) can reply to this.

How far are we, do you think, to the 1958 show with panelist Dick Clark?

Minus 33 Years.

Geez, two posts and I'm already looking for the TTD90/TDB/Chamber or whatever it's called room! :)

I rather enjoyed that actually. That could've been due to who you were replying to, but I was amused nonetheless.
Welcome to your new home.

What gameshows actually decorated for New Year's?

EDIT: Replaced the wrong word.

Thanks!  Well, the ban of the cigarette-sponsored shows puts us just a couple of weeks away.  I guess if everything else airs sequentially, we should see Dick Clark early on the morning of Tuesday the 16th (or maybe a day or two either side of that).

Hope that helps...

I do recall CS during Xmas 1978 and New Year's 1979 keeping the decorations up (the tree at rear center stage was removed for New Year's Week, though).  So that's one.
