I thought Zach would have piped in here already!

Where are these shows at in their run?

MG-1981-82 season: Friday show of week with Conrad Janis/Brett Somers/Paul Williams/Edie Mcclurg/Mclean Stevenson/Debralee Scott. Was this where they are in the weekend 11AM run?

TTTT90: actual premiere episode from 9/3/90 with Kitty Carlisle, David Niven Jr., Gloria Loring, Lynn Swann. Whether GSN has or will ever air the East Coast's first aired episode, the Richard Kline pilot, remains to be seen.

Feud: Syndie 1981(?). Reference is made to Chevy Chase, who wrote a letter to the show stating that Richard should give the number one answers in Fast Money when a family wins it, which he hadn't previously done. A web search for Chevy's latest movie at the time, Modern Problems, states that it is from 1981.

BLOCKBUSTERS WITH BILL RAFFERTY! Woot!

(They started with the premiere, Debbie vs Stacy.)

10:30 Blockbusters is the Bill Rafferty version (side note: HA!  I was right about something!)

This only lasted for 85 episodes. Not a very long run to run it five days a week, of course GSN is doing it with Robinson WL. Still, nice to see another rarity, even if some don't like this version as much as Cullen's. And it even airs in its original NBC time slot :) The only bad thing about it is they cut off Rafferty's goodbye segment, like they did with some episodes of Cullen BB.

It's possible GSN might run through it once or twice then change it out for something else (assuming they don't just overhaul the whole schedule for summer)

And P+ we're on with Tom Kennedy and a week with Judy Norton-Taylor and Bert Convy...I'm not sure if it's mid-week or not? I heard Bert say "Let's try this again" to the one contestant. Hmm.

Wherever we are in this week, according to the matchgame.org (http://\"http://www.matchgame.org/episodeguides/passwordplus/pp80.html\") P+ episode guide, we're only two weeks away from the France/French blooper. Nice time to start in the run!

It doesn't specifically say at THAT site when the France/French debacle occurs. Gameshowutopia.com, however,  says it aired December 23, 1980.

Just for the fun of it, I set the VCR before heading for work today just to see if we'd get some surprises. And did we ever!!! This is awesome. Now everybody contact GSN and thank them. They need to know this effort is appreciated.

The end segment of Kennedy P+ today seemed a little odd. There was a new contestant seen after the final commercial just after Alphabetics, but Tom didn't introduce him. They talked to Judy and Bert in the final segment before the goodbye, but not introduce the contestant. I wonder if GSN edited that part of the final segment out, I wonder if there was a ticket or contestant plug in between the intro of the contestant and the chat with Judy and Bert.

Would it kill them to show episodes from the second season of Jeopardy!? I'd love to watch just for the fact it's older. Or even late '80s eps.

But I'm really not complaining because Rafferty Blockbusters is an incredible treat. I remember watching his version when I was 6.

Yeah, I've never seen a full episode of his version of BB until this morning. I do have one ep of his version of CS in my collection, but the quality sucks big time, so it'll be cool to get an episode or two of that in pristine quality. Oh and I say that NG will be the same season (85-86) VCR will resume recording here at 1pm with Super Password and then Rafferty Card Sharks

Rafferty CS - First show (September 8, 1986)

I had always thought the prize cards were used from the beginning.  Anybody know when they were added?  What about the car game?  Doesn't that surface at the beginning of the third week?  It sure is great to see this edition again.  After a 7 and a half year absence it was way overdue for a reappearance.

You're insinuating that Zach is actually human, and not an automaton from the planet Zhifos, a land where the primary pastimes are ogling over female Jeopardy! champs and showing off their excessive knowledge of minutiae.  While their knowledge of useless material is overwhelming, nobody on Zhifos knows how to reproduce or even have a conversation with someone of the opposite gender.

Re: the new stuff on GSN, it looks like I'll have to set up a VCR with a working remote tomorrow morning.  I've never seen Rafferty on Card Sharks and my memory of him hosting Blockbusters is hazy at best.

Also, our very own Randy West will be an imposter on Friday's TTTT90.

That week of shows aired only last December.  The weekend run is currently 6 weeks ahead.   Makes no sense to me that they'd pick this season for the new 9 AM weekday slot.

For the record, the various MG runs are presently:

9 AM weekdays: MG 81-82 (Synd. Year 3) week 18 of 35
3:30 PM (7 days): MG 77 week 19 of 52
2 AM weekdays (Tues - Sat) MG PM season 4
2:30 AM weekdays (Tues - Sat) MG 79-80 (Synd. Year 1) week 34 of 35
11 AM weekends: MG 81-82 week 24 of 35
3:00 PM weekends: MG 73 week 21 of 24

This is really something.

If you has asked me a few months ago what GSN may do in '05 I would have said maybe they would have some fun on weekends mornings, maybe 'Hollywood Squares' or 'Press Your Luck' would have returned to weekdays and maybe even the '100,000 Pyramid' would return for weekends or an odd marathon.

But I never expected a classic line-up like  this.

Since Liberty bought half of GSN from Sony, I guess, GSN has had some sort of falling out with Sony, so now they have to lease programs from them like they would with any other company.

This is one major reason why they haven't rotated rarer shows in and out of the schedule like they used to.  When they  first went on the air, if they wanted to run "Break the Bank" or "Pass the Buck", all they had to do was schedule it.  Now, because they have to pay for the rights they can't just pull anything out of the vault that they want.

Lately, whenever they've added new shows to the schedule it's almost always been Goodson shows, because it's actually cheaper and easier for them to run them. That's why we've seen Rafferty's "Blockbusters" and "Card Sharks" instead of "Bullseye" or the first season of "Jeopardy".

Maybe that means they'll eventually dust off some other Goodson shows that haven't been seen on GSN in awhile - "Now You See It", "Child's Play", "Beat the Clock" (Narz, Wood and Hall versions), "Body Language", et al.

The last time they tried to schedule NYSI, back in the late 90s, It lasted all of, IIRC, around two weeks.  And that was in a *weekend morning* slot....when there were even fewer people watching the network than there is now.

Beat the Clock, Body Language I could see.  BTC's got at least a *minor* amount of "oh yeah, I remember that" recognition, while Body Language has proven it can hold down at least a weekend slot for years-on-end (it lasted somewhere around four-ish years, I think, on weekends)

Child's Play is probably the mixed bag of the bunch.  On the one hand, it's a Bill Cullen show that had a run longer than 13 weeks, but on the other hand, how much of those little kids could viewers take before they changed the channel to something less painful - say - Trading Proctologists

Aside from appearances in the odd marathon, this version of TTTT was last seen regularly seven years ago, before GSN's "Dark Period" when they lost most of the Goodson-Todman library.
It was on in late 2003 on weekends, IIRC, paired with Trivia Trap

Like the '87 Blockbusters, this hasn't been seen on GSN since 1987 either.

You still have a little more fixing to do.  :)  TTTT9x was actually last seen paired with TATTLETALES (80s) from October 2002-early January 2003 (TRIVIA TRAP replaced TATTLETALES on the sked, and Cullen BB replaced TTTT [I believe on 1/6/03]).  And both shows aired seven days a week during that run.

NYSI7x was ditched because they were violating their contract forcing them to air Click. They had dropped Click for those two weekends and replaced it with NYSI. They switched it back to Click because of the contract violation.

They probably got in their minimum number of plays to allow them to drop it.  They probably only had a year's license on it anyway.

I thought I removed any references to when TTTT9x was aired on GSN (cop out, yes, but what can you do?)

Now for another somewhat controversial topic...how far has GSN got with PW+?  I know they have aired episodes from 1981 and 1982, but did they get this far by going through the entire run?

When the Dark Period began in 10/97, they aired Kennedy P+ on the weekends, but only got as far as the December 1980 Convy/Norton-Taylor week we've seen this week. Some 1981 and 1982 episodes were seen, notably during their Breakfast with the STars blocks in August 2002, but this new P+ time slot will be the first time many of these episodes have been seen since their original broadcast.
