Title: Which Pearson production...
Post by: The Pyramids on January 22, 2005, 07:07:50 PM
If GSN were to take off 'Star Search' and replace it with a double run of one of the Pearson remakes, what would it be?

Out of 'Match Game,'Louie's 'Feud,''Card Sharks,' and finally 'To Tell the Truth' I would have to say from a creative stand point that 'To Tell the Truth' would be the one I'd like to see again.

Likewise I would say that was the best remake. The 'Feud's eternal concept is so good that it could carry Louie's show, but it around it there were to many shortcommings.

I give 'MG' and 'CS' incompletes because I just have not seen enough of either.

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck?

I just have not seen enough of either bears or woodchucks.

I've going to go off the board and say I'd rather see either the Ed McMahon-hosted Star Search (which lasted twelve years which means we could go a long time without recycling..unless, of course, The Network For Games!!! were to purchase only a single season, which I wouldn't put past them) or some classic Ronco infomercials. I very much enjoyed the ones for the food dehydrator and the head paint.
Sorry. None of those Pearson shows gets me into the tent.

I'd pick TTTT2000.  But then again, why would they bother to acquire that when they have every other version in their library?

"Baywatch" might be a good choice.  It's probably the best Pearson remake and it features DED host Brooke Burns and TPIR model Gina Lee Nolin.  The beach volleyball elements of the show could be played up to justify being on the Network for Games.
