Title: 2022-23 daytime and syndie time slots
Post by: MikeK on July 14, 2022, 12:57:30 PM
It's never too early to start thinking about the fall season.

Cleveland/Akron:

WBNX-55 has 6 hours of game shows in a 7-hour span.

3-4 PM:  Family Feud
4 PM:  Pictionary (premiering September 12)
4:30-5:30 PM:  25 Words or Less
5:30 PM:  Pictionary
7-8 PM:  Family Feud
8-9 PM:  You Bet Your Life
9-10 PM:  Family Feud

Barring a drastic change, i.e., Wheel and Jeopardy! changing time slots after almost 4 decades, everything else remains the same for the 216/440/330.

A little love, please, for the 234 as well.

Not a good sign for YBYL in Austin, maybe.  FOX7 has aired it at 6:30pm since it began, but TMZ now has that time slot and Mr. Leno has been moved to 11:30pm.  Oh well, he always wanted to be on at 11:30, so he's probably happy.  #teamcoco

Honestly, that time slot makes the most sense to me, given it goes up against The Tonight Show on the East Coast.

S/O to Jason McKenney got pointing this out, but Pictionary uploaded a “Where to Watch” site.

https://pictionaryontv.com/#where-to-watch

Assuming nothing changes in Norfolk/Va. Beach:

9:30 and 10 am
25 Words, WTVZ

10 am
LMAD, WTKR

11 am
TPIR, WTKR
Pictionary, WVBT (double run)

6 pm
YBYL, WVBT

7-8 pm
Wheel/J!, WVEC
Feud, WTVZ

Last I checked, Funny You Should Ask airs somewhere in the middle of the night.

Well, there's the end of the Daytime Emmys as we know them.

Here's maybe the side-game, which market has the most FF on the same station, in a day?  Once you hit an eighth of your broadcast day is one show, "that's too much".

Dear Lord it's like they're not even trying to get an audience on their channel. I know it's a secondary channel, but do they think viewers are this shallow to not even try to air new programming?

This is why there are 9000 channels now, there is something for everyone...except for ratings. The pie is no larger, even if there are more slices.

When I was a kid, I remember hearing about the possibility of a 500 channel universe and thinking that sounded amazing. Fast forward 30 years and I regularly having trouble finding something to watch and everyone's dropping cable because of the lack of variety. Strange times.

To WBNX's defense, it is likely that they want to keep programming cheap and simple for the moment, as IIRC, the station is looking for a new owner as Rev. Angeley has gone to the great televangelist station in the sky, and with Nexstar now the proud owners of The CW, They may need a new home for the CW as it's currently under Gray Television's WUAB/WOIO roof.  That will likely change within the year.

A helpful hint: googling the station's call letters along with the words "tv passport", you can see what's going on Monday, September 12, when most changes seem to be taking place. The only change I see is the third double run of Feud moving from the midnight hour to the 3am hour.

Also, from what the listings say, WHP inexplicably (and randomly) is showing an informercial some nights at 7pm and airing WOF overnight.

6-7:30, Feud, My-23 (3rd ep & iCrime replace Chicago Fire)

11 & 11:30, YBYL, 4.2
3 am, Funny, CW-8

Milwaukee doesn't have much change, either. Just the addition of Pictionary and a swap at WVTV:

9:00 AM - LMAD - WDJT
10:00 AM - TPIR - WDJT
1:00 PM - Pictionary - WITI
2:00 PM & 2:30 PM* - FYSA - WVTV
3:00 PM & 3:30 PM - Feud - WVTV
4:00 PM & 4:30 PM - 25WOL - WVTV
5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM & 6:30 PM - Feud - WVTV
6:00 PM - J! - WDJT
6:30 PM - WoF - WDJT
10:35 PM - YBYL - WITI

*at station discretion, may air a regular infomercial instead

{snip}

11 am
Pictionary, WVBT (double run)

6 pm
YBYL, WVBT

Last I checked, Funny You Should Ask airs somewhere in the middle of the night.
In a move that blows my mind, starting September 12 FYSI will now air from 2-3 pm on WGNT.

WVBT picked up the second episode of YBYL, and moved the double run to 1-2 pm. Apparently both WVBT and sister station WAVY air a newscast at noon.

Couldn't get WTVZ's lineup to show up on TV Passport. If I had to guess, they might move 25 Words elsewhere in the mornings, but nothing drastic. I also imagine Feud does well in the 7:00 hour.

Might be an MNT thing. WHP's MNT channel wouldn't show up either. 404.

That's exactly what happened with me. Interesting...TVZ's official schedule only goes up until the 11th so I'll check again tomorrow.

Pittsburgh per TV Passport:
WPGH (Fox)
25WOL: 10AM (Moved from 6AM CW)
Pictionary: 10:30AM
YBYL: 12:30AM, WPGH

WPCW (CW)
Feud: 5-6PM, 7-8PM

WPNT (myTV)
FYSA: 5:30AM

WPXI (NBC)
WoF: 7PM
J!: 7:30PM
These two swapping places during the summer is my greatest source of "get off my lawn"-level irritation.

I hear you.  I was thinking about this recently - in some ways I miss the days of 20-channel cable.  It seemed the programming choices were much more interesting than what we've got now.

 New York per Zap2it:

TPIR (11 AM) LMAD (10 AM) Jeopardy (7 PM WABC), Wheel (7:30 WABC), and Funny You Should Ask (4 and 4:30 PM WLNY) all keep their spots as they were, as does Feud’s double run (7-8) and rerun quadruple run. (10-12 on WWOR. Because they have nothing better to do with their 10-midnight slots, I guess.)

25 Words or Less, Pictionary, and one half of the You Bet Your Life double run occupy the 12:30-2:00 block on WNYW. YBYL moves the primary run to 6:30. It looks like WWOR isn’t airing anything other than Feud game show-wise, but I could only get data up until the end of Monday the twelfth.

Seattle, daytime and syndicated:

8 AM: Funny You Should Ask, KSTW (CW)
9 AM: Let's Make a Deal, KIRO (CBS)
10AM: The Price is Right, KIRO (CBS)
1 PM: Pictionary, KCPQ (Fox)
130P: Pictionary, KCPQ (Fox)
2 PM: You Bet Your Life, KCPQ (Fox)
230P: You Bet Your Life, KCPQ (Fox)
3 PM: Family Feud, KSTW (CW)
330P: Family Feud, KSTW (CW)
7 PM: Wheel of Fortune, KOMO (ABC)
7 PM: Family Feud, KSTW (CW)
730P: Jeopardy!, KOMO (ABC)
730P: Family Feud, KSTW (CW)
10PM: 25 Words or Less, KZJO (MyTV*)
1030: 25 Words or Less, KZJO (MyTV)

25 Words moves from 1P on the FOX affiliate to 10P on the MyTV affil, while You Bet Your Life goes from 8p on MyTV to 2P on FOX.  The #3 and #4 runs of Family Feud slide back an hour (currently airing at 4p) on the CW, while FYSA on the same affiliate slides back a half hour in a slot swap with the show airing before it. Wheel and J! will stay in their current positions on KOMO until the heat death of the universe.

Calling it the MyTV affil is disingenuous - it's owned by the FOX O&O, branded as FOX13+, and the MyTV prime programming is shuffled off to 1-3am in favor of syndication and an early newscast produced by the FOX affil. It also runs the entire primary FOX affiliate schedule in simulcast on it's .2 subchannel due to signal issues with that affiliate's tower, so any show listed on KCPQ can also be seen on KZJO 22.2 at the same time.

Portland, OR:

Jeopardy and Wheel stay at KATU (ABC) at 7PM/7:30PM, where they've been since 1990-something (I don't know the *exact* year); and LMAD and TPIR stay at KOIN (CBS) at 9-10AM.

As far as I could tell, no Funny You Should Ask airs on the local affiliates here.

The only changes in Cincinnati are:

Pictionary airs 5-6 a.m. (double run) on WSTR. That 's right, 5-6 a.m.

WSTR dropped YBYL.to a single airing, and now airs a TRIPLE run of Feud from 5:30-7 p.m.

As of today, WXIX moves FYSA at 1:30 p.m. - at least temporarily.
