Might as well start a thread and let those of you who are schedule scrapers fill in the details down the line.
Buzzr has released its first promo for Betty White's 100th birthday, and they're promising 100 episodes with Betty from Sat 1/15 through Mon 1/17. Looks like we're getting some MG90, Trivia Trap, Celeb Whew!, and modern TTTT in there.

I also saw a clip of daytime TTTT from 1968 or so on the second set.

I noticed a clip of the 1972-73 I've Got A Secret.

Wouldn’t this be the first time MG90 has been on Buzzr? I don’t remember it being on before…

I don't remember score cards like that. What season is that from?

Season 1, Summer 2016.

Thanks for posting this. That Trivia Trap week with Betty White also features Bill Cullen, Vicki Lawrence, Jamie Farr, Tom Poston, and Jayne Meadows. A very enjoyable week.

Yes, Betty was a panelist on that for at least one episode, maybe more.

They played with the original format, where you had to eliminate the wrong answers. It was a fun week to watch.

For those who did see post in Obits section. The will now be in memoriam as well.

Wonder how quickly BUZZR will change the Betty White promotions in their broadcast/streaming system?
Buzzr's FB page just confirmed the news at 3pm ET.
You would think the powers that be there would have created some alternative spots for this unfortunate "just in case" scenario when they did the others.
I don't expect much over at Game Show Network, even though they still show a bit of Match Game.
-
Apparently they've pulled all the promos, so it appears the weekend will have a more somber tone to it, but still plenty of great memories with Betty.
-
Buzzr's running this spot now:

So, the marathon might still be a go, but with different wraparounds now, basically.

Starting 1/18, Now You See It is refreshed beginning with #122 along with Tattletales (#380).

Couple more fresh entries the week of 1/24: Password Plus is picking up with #287, and Whew! goes onward with #121.

That's not fresh Whew! Minus skipped episodes, the end of the civilian run is #133.

Oops. Thanks for the clarification, my own Whew! folder ended with #119...but then I just a found a number of forgotten uncatalogued ones.
Still misfiling entries after 25 years, what can I say ;D

According to this thread on Facebook, it looks like Buzzr is moving up the first day of the Betty White marathon to Saturday 1/8, but the other two days will remain on Sunday 1/16 and Monday 1/17.

Saturday, January 8th, at 10:30 am EST we'll begin our celebration of Betty White. We're showing episodes of #MatchGame and #MatchGamePM all day in memory. ❤️ #BettyWhite #BUZZR
We are planning to continue our celebration of Betty White during the weekend of 1/16 and 1/17. Honoring her on what would have been her 100th Birthday. We will share more information in the days ahead. ❤

Great Match Game tribute to Betty on 1/8. Included was an episode of the 60s MG with an all-star panel including Betty and an ep of MG '90 with Betty in Brett's seat on the upper tier.
-
Wouldn’t this be the first time MG90 has been on Buzzr? I don’t remember it being on before…
Indeed.
Post-MG portion of the programming stunt/tribute, I am reaffirmed in my feelings that while it does still have flaws, and while my ranking is influenced by how much I dislike the 70s version, especially the CBS run - MG90 is still my absolute favorite version of the show (with the current reboot a distant 2nd). And that of all the game shows to launch in 1990-91 and fail within 12 months, MG90 was easily the most underrated.
If Buzzr is going to turn six and a half hours (5.5 hours of 7x and PM plus the MG half of the two MGHSH airings) of their schedule over to the show, it'd be really nice if a little of that time went to this IMO. Way back in the day, GSN used to pair the daily syndicated early 80s version with MG90 late morning - it might be interesting if Buzzr wanted to recreate that Noon (9a ET) hour where they have MG74 currently. (the daily syndicated run hasn't been aired regularly on the channel either, I don't believe)

I like the 7x version the best despite it being overplayed. It is what it is. (my one quirk is having a fondness for the post-Dawson eps as that was the MG I grew up with, blue set and Star Wheel and all)
90-91 would come in second. I get it...this time around, Goodson was emphasizing the "Game" part more but it was still fun. And new wrinkles aside it stuck to the CBS version's format.
98 and 2016/whatever are tied for last. I guess I'd put the latter a tick ahead for at least returning to looking like the original and all that. But it suffers from Steve-Harvey-Feud-itis. Amongst other things. (And unlike the other versions, none of the components that made it work were around...no Gene, Brett, Charles, etc.)
Oh yeah, the MG half of MG/HS. Ermmmmmmm....maybe on the same tier as MG90. Not the same for many reasons, but Gene was there and still had his moments. And honestly some of the celebs they ended up using weren't too bad. Others were stinkers, sure, but....
I feel adding MG/HS helped a little just to get a then-rarely-seen version of the show. Adding Shafer would be more of the same. If they must have loads of MG there, it would still feel like a variety at least.

Well, we DO have fresh Whew! starting 2/7, with #134.

According to a press release, there will be a Black History Month marathon on 2/26 from 4-8pm Eastern. The shows will feature appearances by Sammy Davis, Jr, The Supremes, Berry Gordy, Pearl Bailey, Jesse Owens, Dionne Warwick, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bill Melton of the Tuskegee Airmen.
They're also posting vignettes to social media about them throughout the month. They've already posted the Sammy Davis Jr. one.

I guess it would be too much to ask for an episode of "Musical Chairs" (with the first Black game show host, Adam Wade).

Well, if you call finding out if the episodes still exist, who currently owns the rights, and trying to get clearance rights for the songs used too much to ask, then...

At least they did a social media short about Adam Wade and showed a clip of him on Tattletales.

Rather interesting episode with the test Celebrity format in place.

Only screw-up I'm detecting was that there was no pre-emption on 10/3/79 (at least not at the network level), thus everything from #113 to #133 is listed one weekday later than it should be. As in, #133 (last non-celeb show) should be 11/2/79 and #134 (first celeb day) should be 11/5/79. [only pre-emptions that should be there are the Magazine ones]

Aha! So as a result the numbering is off and there is one more civilian show than you originally thought, is what you are saying? I've been using this to rename files I've been recording and that would explain discrepancies.

Gotcha gotcha. Easy enough to fix my copy and I think I located my own naming discrepancy (and discovered I was missing an episode); question is whether I deleted the recording during this current reairing run. I don't think I have yet! (Just checked; nope, should be there!) Thanks!
-
Couple more fresh entries the week of 1/24: Password Plus is picking up with #287, and Whew! goes onward with #121.
That's not fresh Whew! Minus skipped episodes, the end of the civilian run is #133.
So are we establishing then that the guide that was posted here (http://www.gameshowforum.org/index.php/topic,33309.msg391091.html#msg391091) was screwed up?
Yes. There was a show (#113) on 10/3/79 that aired only in the West thanks to coverage of the Papal visit to New York. Episode numbers past that point should be increased by one. Last civilian is 133 (11/2/79) and first celebrity is 134 (11/5/79).
-
Evidently Classic Concentration has moved forward in its run, effective yesterday.
-
Is 12 seconds the most bonus time anyone's earned for the Gauntlet so far?
-
I cant imagine how you could top it. I guess $1,500 plus an assorted melange of blocks in a board won by your opponent, assuming your opponent lays down and you scamper up the right side twice.
-
March 7 to 14 is up on the schedule page...
* Now You See It is still fresh.
* Eubanks Card Sharks is still new.
* The 1pm hour of Classic Concentration continues onward, and hits the start of 1990 (and a random observation: it's ironic that show #666 would air the day after Christmas [12/26/89]).
* Not sure when, but Ludden Password Plus loops back to November 1979.
* Whew! goes on far enough that we should get all three of the "trial" celeb weeks, and the one week return of the normal format (so we SHOULD get Stephen Matthews' return trip during the week of March 1, if I'm counting right, and if the recollections out there are right), and onward into the "permanent" celeb era.
* While not strictly "new", the Darrell Garrison episodes of Sale of the Century turn up in the normal rotation for the first time, for anyone who missed them in November.
* Because of the weekend of March 12/13 being when we reset the clocks, there's no late Saturday repeat of To Tell The Truth, since that falls into the switchover point.

Is 12 seconds the most bonus time anyone's earned for the Gauntlet so far?
To my knowledge yes - I have seen 11 seconds a few times.
-
Some CW! thoughts, if I may...now that we've seen at least two weeks worth of eps. (what we got from the trial three weeks so far, plus the two Betty episodes)...
I still enjoy watching it. I am sure the celebrity element will wear thin with me eventually, after the initial novelty of seeing those episodes again. But I can totally see why the change did not work, as it rarely does. (HAS there been a show to successfully add celebrities to their format in this way?) First, if W! needed anything, it's not more rules to explain. Second, the gameplay feels a bit more clunky as such. Pyramid and Password are the two player simultaneous video games; CW! is playing Super Mario Bros. 3 and having to alternate turns. I can say giving up half your fate to another (celebrity) player is not an unusual feature on game shows, but still, it feels more glaring on this show to have the celeb and player on two different pages. Especially with blocking and running the Gauntlet.
The Carol Wayne/C.J. Gauntlet is a prime example of the latter.
And is it me, or have they watered down the bloopers? I find a lot of $50 and Gauntlet questions seem to be much easier.

During the Gauntlet win drought, when I would play along I would average 4-6 correct answers. In the last week and a half, I have been averaging 7-9 with a couple of personal wins. I wonder if CBS execs said to ease the difficulty level a bit.
-
Pretty much. Should look like this (forgive the long-winded reply...)
Etc. etc.
Exactly. #112 was pre-empted in the West by JPII's speech to the UN General Assembly, and #113 may have been pre-empted in the East by JPII's visit to Philadelphia, if I'm not mistaken.

Could've been worse--NBC pre-empted it and SCRABBLE on Xmas Day for a Jane Pauley-hosted Hope Of Christmas show.
Of course, NBC usually pre-empted that hour every Xmas Day, so without the pre-emptions for that and Wimbledon 666 would've aired earlier in the month. :)

I am now debating whether Celebrity Whew! or syndicated Match Game was butchered more by editing for broadcast...
-
Watching yesterday's Celebrity Whew! (originally broadcast on a Thursday), I think someone replaced the Folger's crystals with Carol Wayne. If they had a lunch break between taping the Wednesday and Thursday episodes, I'm thinking someone sat down with Carol to go over how the game is played, maybe do a couple of practice rounds. She seemed more "with it" on the Thursday episode.

Well seeing as he was probably the sole reason she got on CW! in the first place....
(And I will take it you missed the second Gauntlet on the Thursday episode)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was attempting to play junior detective during today's CW!
POSSIBLE SPOILER/HEADS UP....
Now, tomorrow should be the last trial celebrity episode, yes? When we ended today's episode, we have up to two rounds left and a Gauntlet. It wouldn't make sense to introduce two new contestants to play the celebrity version after this, yes? So assuming there's time to kill...could tomorrow's ep be when Stephen is brought back for his Gauntlet?

I don't know whether to say "they'd never play two Gauntlets in back-to-back segments" or "thanks for the spoiler".

Thanks I corrected it, Bryce...

Quoting the spoiler still makes it a spoiler. Just sayin'.

Quoting the spoiler still makes it a spoiler. Just sayin'.
Mea culpa, as I originally posted said spoiler sans covering up.
-
I'd love to see Stephen's return once we get to that point. However, if there's a skipped episode once we finish the initial celebrity run, I'm guessing it's his. A while back, we speculated that his nickname (http://www.gameshowforum.org/index.php/topic,18936.msg228564.html#msg228564) (link contains a spoiler) may have been the reason his first episode was skipped, and if we don't see him Tom may very well have repeated it.

No. Originally I had it uncovered and went back and changed it.
Anyway...
Someone at FB says they remember Stephen's return, and Tom saying if he lost, he could be in the next game with a celebrity partner. So I may have been wrong about this afternoon's ep...
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was attempting to play junior detective during today's CW!
They already knew at that point in taping that CW! would be brought back permanently on December 5, per Tom's announcement in #146. So they could have any remaining contestants wait for a week to come back in episode #154 at the start of the first permanent CW! week, just as they put Joyce and Chase in contestant stasis after #133 until the end of the temporary run.
Confused? You won't be after today's episode of "Whew!".
-
Brilliant detective work! Keep it up!

Thanks I got my diploma from Sherlock Hemlock's school.
I missed any other reference to 12/5 besides yesterday's, so I wasn't sure how they'd handle it. Turns out it was the Whew! way...totally convoluted.
Better safe than PREGNANT? Good lord, the Golden Girls got ideas from Whew!
-
The schedule doesn't go this far yet. On Thursday March 31 (last day of Q1 2022!), we should get new Concentrations from the final season. Episode 1311, the last new to BUZZR show, should air on 3/30.
On a related note, if you missed the first few episodes of the 1977-78 season with the new Double Play format, it should start rerunning on St. Patty's Day, 3/17.
-
March 7 to 14 is up on the schedule page...
* Now You See It is still fresh.
* The 1pm hour of Classic Concentration continues onward, and hits the start of 1990.
* Not sure when, but Ludden Password Plus loops back to November 1979.
1. Last fresh NYSI is 3/18 (#165), cycles back to 88 on 3/21.
2. Last fresh CC is 3/17 (12N ET, #680), cycles back to 618 at 12:30 ET.
3. P+ loops back tomorrow. The Sunday run we get the first day of Betty White/Dick Martin (the week that would culminate with France/French) at 8PM ET on 3/13, then we loop back to 480 (first Kennedy civilian ep). However, France/French will air on 3/19 as part of Buzzr's "Let's Laugh Day" short marathon (also, the SP where Bert first breaks the Magic Toaster will air immediately following).

Brilliant detective work! Keep it up!
So did we completely miss it? Doesn't appear any ep was skipped, and they're full-tilt into the celebrity run now with Didi Conn and John Schuck.

I was wrong about my guess as to when Stephen would appear so it's all good.
As I said someone apparently remembered Stephen being told he would play with a celebrity partner if he lost the Gauntlet.
-
I know I saw Stephen's return to the Gauntlet while at home on Christmas break (or an off chance we had a snow day or two when it aired). What is the airdate we are up to now? We gotta be getting close.

Day after December 5th (and I'm wording it that way since at the end of 12/5, Tom never said anything about being preempted for December Magazine, so I don't know if today was Thursday 12/6 or Friday 12/7). Celebs are Didi Conn and John Schuck.

It was 12/7. Magazine aired every first Thursday throughout Whew's run, confirmed by contemporary TV Guides.

New to BUZZR Concentrations start on March 28 with #1315, skipping 3 episodes since the last fresh show.
If Stephen Matthews' return to Whew! happened during Christmastime 1979, his show should air in the next two weeks; there are no skipped episodes coming up and today's show is from Monday 12/17/79, which sounds like a good time to start a winter break from school.

Unless the schedule got changed near the dead of night, my old eyes must be playing tricks on me. That is correct.

Complete speculation on my part, but I'd be willing to bet that Stephen shows up in the next segment following a contestant losing their fifth and final Gauntlet, so as not to "interrupt" someone else's run. And considering that tomorrow's show starts with current champion Leonard Bernstein going into his fifth match, if my theory is right, we ought to be seeing Stephen either tomorrow in Act 4, or at the top of episode 163 (assuming Leonard wins the match and ends up joining Alan Emrich and Raymond Frear as a five-time turkey).

Not unless somebody felt like explaining why they gave away $50,000 in one show.

I am sure they are working to fit him back in as soon as possible -- regardless of their budget. They're not gonna have Stephen on speed dial and during a taping session, call him at home and say, "Hey, we haven't given the 25K lately and the latest champ lost their 5th Gauntlet..can you get down to CBS in 30 minutes for the next taping?"
Technically, if they start any episode with a Gauntlet Run and have a two round sweep with the new players, they would end the ep with a second Gauntlet run as we have already seen...Ergo SOME episodes already have the potential of shelling out over $50k in a single episode.

It's happened at least once before: Episode 27 (5/30/79 approx; portions on YouTube) has someone winning the Gauntlet in segment 1, then Carrie sweeps Gene, then Carrie wins the Gauntlet in segment 4.
-
So Leonard was a five-time turkey. Yet Tom promised two new contestants next episode. I know, plans change sometimes.

Well regardless of whether or not Stephen shows up on the next episode, there will be two new contestants at some point. So he wasn't lying, technically....
-
IIRC, when Stephen returned to pick up where he left off, it was NOT at the start of an episode. It likely occurred during the second half of an episode as I don't think the first two segments would have had back-to-back Gauntlets and one celeb doesn't play for the first 10-15 minutes of the show.

Either Supermarket Sweep is in new-to-Buzzr episodes, or I missed them the first time around. The network is now airing season seven, although I seem to remember season six cutting off in the middle of a tournament of some kind. Did Buzzr ever convert the rest of those episodes (and I missed them) or are they skipping ahead?
Old news, but Bob Eubanks recorded some Newlywed Game promos and "coming up" bumpers for Buzzr. I like when the network brings hosts in to promote the shows.

They skipped the final three shows of Season 6 (furthest they went was 1127).

The Cullen Price episode airing right now on Buzzr (10/12/60) has the nighttime version's first Home Viewer Sweepstakes. Last week's episodes apparently had the last Home Viewer Showcase.
Unfortunately, we won't see the results of either (unless those episodes have previously aired on GSN or Buzzr).

Yes, and then they switched to the five drums. I saw one of the original format for the first time the other day and was amused at how much it looked like a giant wall of tumble dryers.
