With the new game show season upon us, I figured I'd be the one to throw the doors open for this season's schedules.
Boise, ID will set the pace:
9AM, KBOI2: TPiR50
11:30AM-12:30PM, KBOI2: Family Feud (back in Boise after a season)
2PM, KBOI2: LMaD
3-4PM, KNIN9 25WoL
4-5PM, KNIN9: FYSA
6-7PM, KBOI2: J!/WoF
10PM, KTVB7.2: YBYL

WBBM in Chicago has picked up "The Drew Barrymore Show" from WCIU and is running it at 9:00am, bumping "Let's Make A Deal" to 2:00pm.
Edit: Looks like WCIU is keeping Drew Barrymore, running that day's episode again at 9:00pm. Weird.

Strange, but ok.
I always thought 9am was too early in the morning for a show as bombastic as LMAD anyway.

One is about premier dates. This is about timeslots and market lists.

WCIU is running The CW's programming through an agreement with CBS. Perhaps this is a separate agreement with the company.
It's not bad counterprogramming for the people who don't have great cable or streaming options. The networks are running their programming at nine, WGN and WFLD (Fox) have local news, WPWR is rerunning Chicago P.D. or whatever they've got. Why not a light talk show?
CBS is probably desperate to boost Drew Barrymore's numbers; they weren't great in the show's first year, and with this being Ellen DeGeneres' farewell to daytime, they'd probably like for her to pick up some steam.
-
In Flint, Fox 66 is airing YBYL at 6pm, right after an hour of FF at 5. 25 Words is slotted at 4.

Ah, got it. Sorry about that!

How are ratings calculated for syndie shows with multiple airings? This seems like a situation where they'd tout that she has X number of viewers in the Chicago market, even though it took two airings to get them.
This is definitely a play to help her catch steam. 2PM-4PM in Chicago is Kelly followed by Ellen on NBC, and she won't pick up viewers there. 9am is a local talk show on NBC and LIVE on ABC.
Considering how talk shows have historically been easy cancellations, it's crazy to think she got a midseason renewal with dismal ratings.

As far as I know, nothing changes in Norfolk/Virginia Beach. If anything moves I'll post it, but I imagine all shows remain in their respective timeslots. If Wheel and J! move out of the 7-8 pm hour, I'll bungee jump off the Empire State Building*.
You Bet Your Life will air on WVBT at 6 pm. The schedule stops at 8 pm on September 13 so I dunno if the second episode airs in late night. Seems like it would make sense to air a second episode sometime between 11:30 pm and 1 am, right around the time The Tonight Show airs.

South Bend, IN has no changes,
The Jay Leno Show You Bet Your Life airs WSBT-DT2/Fox, double at 5pm, creating a 2 1/2 hour block of repeat Jeopardy, 25 Words or Less, YBYL.
-
You Bet Your Leno gets a double-run on Fox O&O WFLD in Chicago at 3:00pm, putting it against Ellen and Dr. Phil, plus the second half-hour against Jeopardy.
Schedule currently shows 25 Words or Less staying in a double-run at 4:00pm on MyNetwork WPWR.
Family Feud runs 2:00-3:00pm on WFLD, then 5:00-7:00pm on WPWR.
-
Indianapolis gets Jay on WTTV-4.2 weeknights at 11 and 11:30. The subchannel was previously the home of America Says during its syndie run.
25 Words remains on WISH-8 at 2 & 2:30, followed by the first run of Feud at 3 & 3:30.
More Feud remains on WNDY-23 at 6 & 6:30; the additional episode at 5:30 that replaced WWTBAM midseason goes away.
Funny You Should Ask will downgrade from 4 & 4:30 on WNDY-23 to 3 a.m. on WISH-8.
ObDrewBarrymore: stays on WXIN-59 but moves down from 10 to 11 AM (making room for new local content), going up against TPIR, The View & Kelly Clarkson. Oof.
-
As far as I know, status quo for the establishment in New York; LMAD and Price in the morning, Wheel and Jeopardy! on WABC in the 7:00 hour, and Feud at 7 and 7:30 on WWOR.
You Bet Your Life, as I mentioned in the thread concerning the show, comes to WNYW at 7:30 on the 13th. This is going to require a little schedule rejiggering that I don’t have any word on just yet; I haven’t been able to find any schedule past the 12th yet but TMZ’s premiere for this season is on the 6th at 7:30 and something’s gotta move to accommodate it. Could mean 25 Words Or Less will have a new home for the primary episode.
Don’t know anything about Daytime Jeopardy, Funny You Should Ask, or the Feud rerun double run at the moment.

On WMAQ (NBC Chicago), 9 AM and 10 AM are the third and fourth hours of Today, at least for now.
WLS is throwing in the towel on Windy City Live after 10 years of hoping it will be as popular as Oprah Winfrey was. Starting in the next week or two, Tamron Hall moves into the 1 PM time slot there.
Game-wise in Chicago, it looks like WPWR will continue with a three-hour block of 25 Words or Less and Family Feud from 4 to 7. WFLD (Fox) has a one-hour block of Family Feud from 3 to 4 PM, but it looks like that will change when You Bet Your Life premieres (YBYL at 3 and Feud at 3:30?). Funny You Should Ask is on WCIU at midnight, single run. Aside from the LMaD move to 2, everything else appears status quo.
-
As far as I know, status quo for the establishment in New York; LMAD and Price in the morning, Wheel and Jeopardy! on WABC in the 7:00 hour, and Feud at 7 and 7:30 on WWOR.
Only ONE hour of Harvey Feud per day on regular TV (NOT counting cable or Pluto Channels)!?!?
One could only hope...

So in the NYC area, YBYL will be competing against WOF, which gets good ratings. Good luck to Jay and Kevin. I'll watch a couple of shows out of curiosity.
-
The only noticeable updates I see in the Harrisburg, PA market is that YBYL will air the double run in the 6pm weekday hour on the CW channel of WHP.
WPMT still has Family Feud, and is airing it all the time at Who Cares O'Clock, no major changes there.
25 Words stays on the MyNet subchannel of WHP in the 5pm hour.
No changes to Wheel, J, LMAD, and TPIR, all on WHP in their same time slots.
-
In Austin, KTBC (Fox O&O) is airing YBYL at 6:30 opposite Wheel of Fortune on KXAN, which I'm pretty sure has been in that spot on their schedule since it started in syndication.
The only other change that I see is that Family Feud moves from 6:00, 6:30, and another hour late at night on KNVA to 5:00, 6:00, and 6:30 (with Daytime Jeopardy at 5:30.) This started alongside some other shuffles to make room for programs that otherwise would have been pre-empted for Olympics coverage on sister station KXAN.
-
Cleveland/Akron:
Family Feud gets a sextuple run on WBNX-55--3:30 to 4:30 PM, 7 to 8 PM, 9 to 10 PM.
You Bet Your Life gets a double run from 8 to 9 PM on 55. A 3-hour prime access/primetime block!
25 Words or Less' double run has a slight time adjustment, also on 55, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Daytime Jeopardy! stays at 6:30 PM on WUAB-43. Everything else also stays where it has previously aired with one exception--no sign of Funny You Should Ask.
-
Detroit:
Feud: 12 pm/6 pm/7 pm/7:30 pm CBS-62
Funny You Should Ask: 8:30 am CW-50
Wheel: 7 pm NBC-4
Jeopardy: 7:30 pm NBC-4
You Bet Your Life: 11:30 pm/2 am FOX-2
25 Words: 9 am/9:30 am CBS-62
-
Milwaukee:
- You Bet Your Life: WITI at 10:35 PM
- Unchanged: J!, Wheel, Feud, FYSA, 25WOL
- FYSA note: The second run has more often than not been replaced with paid programming last season, and this trend seems to continue.
-
Network Daytime:
Let's Make a Deal: 9am
Price is Right:10am
Syndication:
Funny You Should Ask: 8:30am, CW (KSTW, CW11)
25 Words or Less x2: 1pm & 1:30pm, FOX (KCPQ/Q13)
Family Feud x4: 5pm, 5:30pm, 7pm, 7:30pm, CW (KSTW/CW11)
You Bet Your Life *x4*: 6pm, 6:30pm, FOX (Q13), reair? (or 4 runs?) at 7pm & 7:30pm, MyTV (KZJO) (sister station of the FOX affil)
Wheel of Fortune, 7pm, ABC (KOMO)
Jeopardy, 7:30pm, ABC (KOMO)
You can make a three hour syndicated block out with channel changes, from Feud #3 & 4 at 5pm, You Bet Your Life at 6p, then Wheel/J! at 7p. Great run for one of the nights where ABC is doing games.
-
For Portland, OR:
You Bet Your Life: 3:30 AM and 5:30 PM on KPDX 49 (MNT)
25 Words or Less: 3:30 AM on KRCW 32 (CW)
Feud: 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 6:30 PM on KPDX 49, and 7:30 PM on KPTV 12 (FOX); KPTV and KPDX are duopolies.
Jeopardy: 7:00 PM on KATU 2 (ABC)
Wheel: 7:30 PM on KATU 2
No Funny You Should Ask at all.
-
Anyone else disappointed that Funny You Should Ask is getting relegated to strange hours for the most part? I get that it's typical for Byron Allen's shows to not get the best timeslots, but I'd like for a station to try a FYSA/25 Words block.
-
What’s in it for the stations to continue committing good timeslots to reruns of reruns of a show that didn’t set the world on simmer in the first place?
-
Anyone know if 25WoL is back in the regular studio this upcoming season, or will it remain in the Remote COVID format?

Back in the studio, and the word on the street is that even more changes are in store for it.

Los Angeles:
25 Words or Less: 2:00 P.M. & 2:30 P.M. on KTTV 11 (Fox)
Funny You Should Ask: 5:00 P.M. & 5:30 P.M. on KCAL 9 (CBS-owned independent)
Family Feud: 6:00 P.M. & 6:30 P.M. on KCAL 9
Jeopardy!: 7:00 P.M. on KABC 7
Wheel of Fortune 7:30 P.M. on KABC 7
You Bet Your Life: 11:00 P.M. & 11:30 P.M. on KTTV 11
-
Orlando:
LMAD: 3 p.m. on WKMG (CBS)
TPIR: 11 a.m. on WKMG
J!: 7 p.m. on WFTV (ABC); 11:30 a.m. on WRDQ (Ind.)
WOF: 7:30 p.m. on WFTV
FF: 9 a.m. on WFTV; 7-8 p.m. on WRDQ
YBYL: 1 and 7 p.m. on WOFL (Fox)
25WOL: 1:30 p.m. on WOFL
FYSA: 1:30 a.m. on WFTV
J! and FF have gone head-to-head in Orlando for a few years, and now you can add Leno to the battle.
25 Words or Less gets upgraded from the post-midnight time slot it had last year.

Poking through some schedules and I've found something slightly alarming: No Boston-based outlet has picked up YBYL at all. New Hampshire's WMUR is airing it at 10:30 AM alongside the second 25WOL run, but wouldn't the lack of a clearance in a Top 10 market/Fox's largest non O&O market be a bit lazy?
It isn't for lack of trying, WFXT's 2:00 hour is being taken up by reruns of the prior weekday's TMZ and ET (the latter replacing 2018-19 Millionaire reruns). Then again, this was the same market that had abysmal clearances for Celebrity Name Game until it was too late.
-
Cincinnati:
WXIX adds a double run of 25WoL at 1 and 1:30 pm. FYSA is on at 2 am. No sign of Daytime J!
As I announced earlier, Leno YBYL is on WSTR for a double run at 5 and 5:30 pm (before FF)
Everything else is the same (WOF and J! on WXIX 7-8 pm, LMAD and TPIR 10 am-noon on WKRC, the aforementioned FF double run on WSTR)

Not to mention that Boston is Jay's hometown, IIRC.
No love for the hometown boy???

An educated-guess-answer here is because of the way local commercials are sold. Commercial time slots are usually offered in convenient one-hour blocks to the ad agencies and clients, and the ratings are also reported this way. Since the majority of daytime programming is hour-long talk shows, it makes sense to run hour-long slots of the same game show for ad sales purposes.
There is more at play for the scheduling decisions than just local ad sales, but it is an important part of the discussion.
I never worked at a station that sold Wheel and J!, so I am not sure how ad time in those higher-profile programs are sold. One of the stations where I worked ran Millionaire at 12:30, adjacent to the noon news, so Millionaire was sold on its own there.

Just checked my on screen guide. Coming up tonight at 6pm on Fox 66. You Bet Your Life. "Groucho Marx hosts a question-and-answer game show. (Religion)." How I miss the real TV Guide.
