So we have a cryptic promo that's shown up during commercial breaks. Speculate.
-
I’ll let the person who found it take the credit…new logo.

That would be me. After someone on Facebook guessed it might be a new logo or name, I did some searching in the U.S. trademark database and found this, registered last month. (https://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4802:5m9anu.2.2) The lightning bolt in the middle of the new logo matches the graphics in the cryptic promos.

Using a lightning bolt also is more reminiscent of the logo they used before being a tv network and were just producing YouTube game shows. (In as much as there was a lightning bolt LOL)

In case that link to the trademark search results isn't working for you, here's the image:

Is that all the promo is referring to, though? Networks don’t usually run mysterious promos for a new logo alone, unless something else is happening in conjunction with it—i.e. a blockbuster acquisition, a significant format overhaul, a new viewer participation opportunity, or the like.
That’s not to cast doubt on the new logo, though. Obviously they have it in place already, and the forthcoming Birthday Bash would be an ideal time to roll it out. But I’m thinking there may be something more going on besides just that. And granted, I haven’t yet managed to catch the promo in question, so I may be totally off-base.

I caught one just now during Match Game.

Yeah, I think it's a new logo/graphics package, probably in time for their 6th anniversary.
-
Looks like they've already updated the logo on their homepage.
-
Promos I saw today indicate a "new look" starting Monday.
-
The new logo and graphics debuted at 8, immediately prior to Classic Concentration.

Reminds me a lot of the Game Show Network to GSN transition in 2004.

And I hope that's where the comparison ends.

Have Kenny and Spenny patched up their differences?

They're going to take things to Extreme Dodgeball to settle it.

Will they get stoned after the match? Naturally.

Just my optimistic $.02 worth…
A few weeks ago, BUZZR sent out a survey gauging interest in a premium fan club where, for a nominal fee, subscribers would get bonuses including branded apparel and such. (I was half expecting they might announce the launch of it with this new logo rollout.) From what little I know about apparel production, you can do a lot more and get higher quality results with a basic, streamlined logo—as opposed to the basic screen-printed T-shirts they’ve done previously.
I tend to think new merchandising is what’s driving this. And that’s not the worst reason to change a logo. (Remember the rumor a while back that the Viacom networks had streamlined their logos so they’d fit better on a business card?)
And this new logo isn’t really straying too far from its roots. They’ve kept the orange ball & centered white lettering and the “Let’s Play” slogan. The GSN comparisons are understandable, but for now, I don’t think it’s the same situation as when Game Show Network became “The Network for Games.”
Although, if in 3 months BUZZR announces an aggressive new slate of original programming that includes Extreme What’s My Line and a revival of Ballbreakers, I’ll stand corrected.

To the points made here about merchandising, Buzzr's already added a bunch of new logo merch to their Amazon store: https://www.amazon.com/buzzr
Though the black shirts with the all-black version of the logo are a little baffling.

"Every time you try to operate one of these weird black controls that are labeled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up black to let you know you’ve done it." -- Douglas Adams

Just to clarify, what I had in mind was higher-quality than just screen-printed T-shirts: things like polo shirts, hats, etc. with an embroidered logo. From what little I know about apparel manufacturing, it’s easier to do an embroidered logo that’s more basic & streamlined, rather than one with unusual fonts and odd curvatures like their previous logo.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough if that’s their plan.
