Title: Oldest living celebrity panel
Post by: MikeK on August 28, 2020, 11:07:48 PM
This came to mind while watching MGHS this week, with the cast of St. Elsewhere.  All eight guests are still alive, over 36 years since this week aired.  Is this the oldest panel where every guest is still alive?  For our intents and purposes, let's use panels of at least 4 celebrities.  It's not exactly fair to compare two guests on a show like Password Plus to a show with eight celebs.

This'll be a fun exercise I think!
I'll call your 1984 and raise you a 1980 Chain Reaction week, with a panel of Joyce Bulifant, Jay Johnson, Robert Pine, and Judy-Norton Taylor.

Dunno if it counts, but there’s an “All-Star Junior Pyramid” from September 1979, with Tony Danza, Susan Richardson, Olivia Barash, Tammy Lauren, David Hollander, and Rob Lowe.

In the close but not quite category there are two other CR panels that are still with us from four weeks later (Daryl Anderson, Betty White, Jay Johnson, Susan Richardson)  and  five weeks later (Sharon Spelman, Steve Kanaly, Sal Viscuso, Jo Anne Worley).     You can pretty much forget about MG 70s or 70s TTTT and WML and Password All-Stars (not even one week of TTTT 1980 fits).

Just for kicks I checked a couple of slightly later shows from this period to see if they had any full surviving week panelists as well or at least what their earliest one is.

HSQ (Davidson)
May 18-22, 1987  (Bob Barker, Ellen DeGeneres, Roger E. Mosley, Janice Pennington & Dian Parkinson, Wolfgang Puck, Smothers Brothers, Elke Sommer, Tim Thomerson, George Wallace)

TTTT (1990)
Week 4 (Ron Masak, Cindy Adams, Lynn Swann, Betty White)

The earliest fully surviving MG 90 panel is New Year's Eve 1990 (Bruce Baum, Vicki Lawrence, Brad Garrett, Edie McClurg, Roger E. Mosley, Pat Musick)    One other non-CNR week is also fully surviving.

Week #41 of Tattletales (December 6 & 9-12, 1974)--George & Alana Hamilton, Scoey & Claire Mitchell/Mitchlll, and William Shatner & Marcy Lafferty all seem to be with us, although only Scoey and Claire are still married.

I like it.

I almost had a “Sports Challenge” panel from 1972, the KC Chiefs (Len Dawson, Willie Lanier, Otis Taylor) vs. the Miami Dolphins (Larry Czonka, Jim Kiick, Paul Warfield), but unfortunately Mr. Kiick died just two months ago.

Found another possibility. Week #15 of It's Your Bet (aired January 5-9, 1970 in some markets) apparently had Shani Wallis & Bernie Rich and Bob & Ginny Newhart, all of whom are still living (and each couple is still married). This one has to come with a caveat, since the shows likely haven't been seen since the early 70s, may not exist anymore, and the only source is http://ctva.biz/US/GameShow/ItsYourBet.htm (probably compiled from TV Guide). So take it with as many grains of salt as needed.
