Title: Buzzr stream stopping for anyone else?
Post by: catnap1972 on July 13, 2020, 08:46:04 PM
Nobody's mentioned it so maybe it's just happening to me but figure I'd ask...is the website stream hanging up from time to time for anyone else?  Usually an F5 fixes it for a little while but it's still annoying.  Been happening for the past couple of weeks randomly.

No issues on my end.

Just did it again a few minutes ago (shrug).  I'll see if deleting cookies does anything, if not I'll try incognito and another browser.  Really no reason for this to be happening.

Then again, I don't actually use a browser... I have it routed through VLC for recording. Maybe that might get better results?

Seems to be okay on Pluto so maybe it's their website stream that's acting up (shrug)

The browser stream does that from time to time.

It's a new stream, compared to the one posted four months ago regarding watching/recording BUZZR via VLC player.  The old URL from then still works but I can't record from it, as it occasionally shows up as a green video with complete audio.  The old stream shows commercials, while the new stream shows GSN's "We'll Be Right Back" animation.  The address of the newer stream is https://buzzrota-web.amagi.tv/playlist.m3u8.

I'm still using the old stream url and recording in VLC just fine.
It might be because I haven't downloaded VLC update, still using 3.0.8.

This might be the issue.  I'm using 3.0.11.  I'm dialing back to 3.0.8 right now.

I fought a couple of audio issues with VLC on my Mac with before downgrading to 3.0.8. Haven't looked back.

Is this new stream supposed to have lower audio levels than the old one? Sounds much quieter.

Had to switch to the new stream today, the old one started to get all glitchy during Password Plus this afternoon. New stream shows no quality issues.

The BUZZR stream from their page is constantly freezing tonight during LMaD...

It might not be the stream. I've been watching on cable for a few minutes and have noticed some hitches and glitches.

Also, after 5 years, my cable provider has finally stopped stretching Buzzr to 16:9.

Nice to see Pluto has also started showing Buzzr in 4:3. Now if it could only do something about those massive swings in volume between commercials.

Recording the new stream in VLC is yielding file sizes about double those of the old one. Each 30 minute program is ending up around a gig for me, anyone else?

Try this link... https://buzzrota-web.amagi.tv/playlist720.m3u8 (or replace "720" with "360", "480" or "1080" as needed)

You mean you don't like waking the neighbors with that Baywatch commerical?

I'm glad that the Roku Channel has added Buzzer to it's list of live streams...Pluto's "pregnant pause" at the top and bottom of the hour has been annoying, and for the last few months, I cannot get the STIRR programming grid to work properly either on my TCL/Roku TV or on my Visio TV with a Roku stick.

Plus there are far less annoying, repetitive ads on the Roku Channel stream during the commercial breaks (for now).  The MTV "Siesta Key" promos on the Pluto streams especially.

/It was fun...until it wasn't.

Agreed. Only thing is that on the Roku Channel feed, it almost always kicks to that “We’ll be right back” screen & tune before the break is over. It doesn’t really bother me—I still think that song is a banger—but the rest of the house has made comments when RC BUZZR is on for very long.

And yeah, that Siesta Key promo.

/You think you did nothing wrong?

Weirdness on the "newer" feed today: instead of Classic Concentration, more Match Game episodes have followed. In fact, Match Game is still showing as I type this instead of PW+
I checked the older feed (which looks cleaned up and no longer glitchy), and it's following the regular schedule.

I believe there's a marathon of eps honoring Brett Somers today from noon-7.

Ah, I see that it's a Roku marathon. Interesting. Thanks for the insight.

I’m not sure what you mean by a “Roku marathon” - Stirr is also showing Match Game all day (or at least right now when Super Password would normally be on)

I'm referring to BUZZR's post on its FB page:
Tune in to Roku’s ‘It's the Summer of Somers: Brett's Best Match Game Marathon’ including #MatchGame and #MatchGamePM episodes!
Didn't see Stirr or Pluto mentioned.

MG is also running on the BUZZR website this afternoon.

It's an everywhere marathon.  The same episode is airing OTA as on Pluto as on Roku for me.

This feed is airing the normal schedule:

I've been recording both feeds since finding them to be different.

Weird.  I'm seeing MG right now OTA instead of Tattletales.

Normal schedule OTA here in Atlanta. Tattletales is wrapping up and Press Your Luck about to begin.

Update: As of tonight, it's returned to the 16:9 stretch. I know there's a good number of TV/technical people on the board, so what's the likeliest source of this? Is it my cable provider, or is it the channel itself?

Might be the channel itself. I've caught Buzzr's Orlando station through an over-the-air antenna, and the aspect ratio issues are still present there.

I had the aspect ratio change recently here on the Milwaukee affiliate. Was proper 4:3 until a few weeks ago, when they started having technical problems and eventually fixed them, which included a change to 16:9 pillarbox.

I’m watching it right now on Pluto and it’s 4:3.
