Not being in the military, past or present, nor knowing anyone who went on a game show, one question popped into my mind while watching a random game show episode:
For those who are/were in the military that appear as a contestant (or in the case of TPIR, a potential contestant), whose rule is it that they must wear their formal uniform while appearing on the show? Is it a requirement of the government if they say they in contestant interviews they are an active member of the armed forces, or is it a game show tradition that they are encouraged to wear their uniform?
And for the few shows I have seen from other nations (Canada, England....) are their contestants expected/required to wear their military uniforms on the show?
Just curious.

In the UK? No, unless the contestant wants to make their own statement.

It was almost certainly a request of the producers to get them to wear their formal uniforms on camera for aesthetic purposes.
