Title: Press Your Luck: The Card Game!
Post by: jlgarfield on May 21, 2019, 07:35:05 PM
Hello, I've largely lurked on here, but this will be my first post.

You know, with all the excitement of Press Your Luck coming back, I have been thinking: For the past two years, I have found out that this game show would be a great game to turn in to a card game form.

But how would it work? I'm open to your ideas.

There’s a card game called Diamant that shares some play mechanics with PYL.

Which has since been repackaged into Incan Gold. Indeed, there is an entire genre of games known as (hey, get this!) press-your-luck games. :)

(And, really, an actual PYL card game would a) be pretty easy to recreate the format accurately and b) show off just how flimsy and chrome-dependent said format is.)

Developed a PYL-themed card game just as the show was on its last legs at CBS. Also polishing a recent dice version using similar mechanics. The card game dumps the questions, the dice version uses questions for determining who gets the right to roll. As Chris said, "pressing your luck" is a classic game foundation with lots of games already out there using it. I'm hesitant to reveal more detail, as the game could just as easily be packaged with a different design and title, and that's what I'm currently attempting. Best wishes as you plot your own version, jl.
