On your mark, get set, reboot!

No word on a host, although Nick says the new DD will "feature appearances from blasts from the past, longtime Double Dare fans and stars from today".

40 new episodes have been ordered. The article makes no mention of cast/crew.
Edit: There's 2 other threads......*ding* Clean-up in the Big Board!

Nice refresh of the logo. I like it better than the 2000 version.

Now casting, and they'll be considering teams of two kids, one parent and one kid, and families of four.

According to this, they'll be taping in June. For reasons I cannot fathom, the Fremantle Media North America logo is prominently displayed on the page.

The reason I can fathom is that they're part of the production company now.

Mash-ups are all the rage. You Dare/Double Dare your opponent, and they get the question right, your isolation booth gets splattered with Gak.

Mystic Art is now saying this will premiere on June 25 - https://www.mysticartpictures.com/mystic/news.php. I'm not 100% sure I believe it - it seems awfully fast.
As for a host, they are apparently "accepting celebrity and influencer submissions" -

And here's your new Double Dare host, joined for "color commentary" by the original.

I had a feeling we'd at least be hearing Marc Summers in the reboot.
-
Taping in LA in early June:

-
Marc is also referred to as the "mayor" of the show in that promo...whatever that means.

He still uses foursquare?

The obstacle course mayorship is serious business.

Here’s pictures of the new set and obstacles: https://www.buzzfeed.com/keelyflaherty/heres-your-first-look-at-the-new-double-dare-on-nickelodeon (https://www.buzzfeed.com/keelyflaherty/heres-your-first-look-at-the-new-double-dare-on-nickelodeon)

(isn't sure whether those are intentional typos; regardless, is inspired to start pitching a dating show for kids)

Darn autocorrect on my phone. Modified.

Those three DD2K episodes were originally scheduled for the July 2016 Double Dare marathon, but were pulled about a day or two before they were supposed to air. Not sure if it was celebrity clearance issues or just people wanting more Summers.
-
Don't think this warrants a new thread, but since I know some people here will be interested, Marc Summers is co-hosting HQ this Sunday night on your nearest Apple/Android device:

A. The thing preventing it from getting the plus is Marc and Liza should have switched.
/I liked DD 2000
//Don't kill me
-
According to a KTLA5 interview, Liza apparently lost her voice mid-show, so Marc had to take over. Will be interesting to see Marc at least fully host a obstacle course round again!
-
I'll be a dissenting vote and say I like Liza. I also like that Marc is there too.
-
I’ll dissent too. Liza is doing great and I think she’s the perfect fit for this show. I’m grateful Marc is back too. He’s not bad as the sidekick.
-
I don’t think it’s a dissent. She still has some wooden parts of her delivery to work on, but overall, for the first time in this style, I think she does well. She gets into the action and offers help and advice when she can, a lot like Marc used to. Her chemistry with Marc pleasantly surprised me.
-
Overall, I like the new version a lot. I don't like only the winning team keeping their money, but the game's still the same and it's not my budget, yada yada. Now, onto the EXTREMEly mild criticisms:
The bigger set has a noticeable downside when it comes to the obstacle course. Now, they have the space to lay out all eight obstacles in a basically linear fashion. In the old version, with the obstacles packed into the smaller space however they could fit them, the end product from my viewing perspective had more of a madcap, manic feel to it, where the action was coming from all directions and constantly turning around. If this gets a second season and we start seeing bigger, more intricate obstacles like in days of old, that linear feeling could be reduced.
Liza's a good host and a good fit for this generation, but her role as more of a generic cheerleader during the stunts really brings home how much Marc's play-by-play added to the proceedings.
